Gateway FX6800-01e Gaming Desktop Computer Review

"wow where do i start.



this was the last unit in my local bestbuy, i got it asap when they received it, (good thing all employees were too busy to notice it)



i was in the mood of making a gaming rig till i saw this monster, and changed my mind, first and most importantly, it uses the new intel motherboard that supports up to 4 G-cards among other things, it uses the new 8 core CPU 'Nehalem' (maybe thats not how you spell it) the I7 eats any and all AMD processors and the old quad cores. it is up to 50% faster at video encoding and 12 faster in regular processing (i have not seen it go above 40% no matter what i do, play or instal) ...(yet) and to top it off it has the X-fi gamer sound card on-board in the MOBO, am not into overclocking but, with a better heatsink than what they give you, you can pull out up to 4GH (LCD is a must tho)



only problem is the mouse and is a basic piece of junk (i got the g5 logitec, pure awesomeness) and about to get a better key board soon, prolly the g11, and also, the RAM maybe fast and it is DDR3 but alas it may not be enough in the near future (ddr3 also costs a lot)



i will be getting an extra 4850 ATI card soon to use in crossfire, in order to play at even sicker resolutions, oh and note: the 4850 is an AWSOME CARD i just play fallout 3 at the moment, and at max AA and AP with ultra settings and the top resolution (too bad the game doesnt let you go any higher)



If your looking for a good gaming PC for a good price, this is it.



And no, you cant custom make it for any lower than it is, I think its like 150 overprice,,,, and thats because of labor"
