"This is a great tripod. I've been very impressed with the quality. The leg locks work fantastic. I have an old Husky tripod that I used through the 70's. I always liked the twist locks, but could get very frustrated with having to lock and unlock them in the proper order. You can lock/unlock the Gitzo leg sections in any order. Fantastic. All of the ergonomics are well thought out. Expensive, but a quality piece of gear.

My only complaint is the optional spike feet. It appears that the spikes are covered with a rubber covers. To use the spikes, you remove the covers and replace them whe you want to go back to rubber feet. I would much prefer the retractable spikes like Bogen/Manfroto use."

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
