"hauppauges' 1212 pvr works as advertised, would have given it 5 stars were it not for the fact that the supplied software is somewhat deceiving. total media extreme oem version will not give you all that is needed, at least not for my need. if you already watch blu ray thru your computer, you need to be sure that you are not using arcsofts total media 3 platinum, because according to arcsoft support, you cannot use total media theater 3 and total media extreme at the same time on your computer and the oem version of total media extreme that comes with your 1212 will not play back bluray. However, it does allow you to record to your hdd from your cable box in 1080i with dd 5.1 surround. heres the catch, it won't let you author dvd or bluray in dd5.1, only pro-logic II."
