"It would be nice to believe that the 562 Pet Series Roomba had been specially designed for dealing with pet hair, but unfortunately this is not the case. Pet hair is actually the 562's nemesis. If you use the 562 to vacuum any room that has pet hair, it will either jam part way through cleaning or accumulate so much hair that it will jam the next time you run it.
The first time I used the 562 it stopped and requested its brushes be cleaned 3 times before it finished cleaning a small room. I figured this was a rather extreme test because the room hadn't been vacuumed for a week and the 562 would be more successful with more regular use. Unfortunately, it had the same problem the next day. Over a week of use, the 562 required about 10 minutes of careful cleaning each and every time I used it. This wasn't just a case of emptying the bin, but involved removing hair that had wrapped around the ends of the bristle and flexible brushes, carefully extracting hair that had been sucked into the gearbox (with other Roomba users have documented causes the cleaning head module to fail), taking the bearings out and removing hair trapped inside those, removing hair wrapped around the side brush axle, removing the black and white roller wheel from the unit and removing the metal axle to remove hair which had wrapped around the axle and caused the roller wheel to stop spinning freely. So, if you're lucky and the 562 completes vacuuming a room, you'll have traded the convenience of automated cleaning for the not insignificant chore of repairing the unit every time you use it.
The problem with the 562 and other Roomba models is that they are prone to getting jammed with hair, and it's not just pet hair that causes this problem, human hair has the same effect. I really wanted to believe in my Roomba and was very patient with it, but in the end I returned it. It really isn't at all suitable for dealing with pet hair, or hair of any kind."
