"The first time I used one of these was in the dirt laden Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. It took me maybe 15 minutes to pump a liter of water...but if you've ever seen the Colorado River, you'd know why. This filter filtered out every little microscopic bit of sediment that the Colorado threw at it. I've sense used it in Big Bend, the Great Smokey Mountains and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Still impresses me. Downside...it's a bit heavy and a little expensive when compared to other hand pump filters, but I've never used iodine/chlorine tablets and with this, I never will."
