Kenmore 350 Series Water Softener Review
Sears Scores Again!
"I am extremely pleased with this softener overall and look forward to many years of service!
I REALLY hate plumbing work but hate paying plumbers rates even more! After researching various purifiers and water softeners, I finally decided on a whole house carbon filtration system combined with the Sears Kenmore water softener.
Anticipating an ordeal by installing the unit(s) myself, I was pleasantly surprised when everything went together smoothly.
The system is sturdy, quiet, efficient, and has more than enough programming options to satisfy even the most demanding water situations. This system replaced my 10+ yr old Culligan and I'm elated! It works much better with the various settings with just the right softening level that we require (vs the excess we got from our old softener).
The end result is soft water that is more than adequate for dishwashing and laundering yet is not excessively soft as to be undrinkable.
Note to Sears (if anyone from Sears reads these): I only have 2 small nits:
1) The 1" pipe adapters that plug into the Bypass Valve assembly should fit a little more snugly or have a little bit bigger rubber seal gasket. I had to tape both adapters to prevent very minor leakage. Also, the black plastic retaining clips seem a little less durable than they really ought to be. I ordered replacements right away just in case these ever broke.
2) The adapter kit (flex hoses w/ 3/4" to 1" connectors) that I bought at Sears along with my water softener are a little short. I believe they are about 16" long and really ought to be 20-24" long. If I had been installing JUST a water softener, it would be of adequate length. Since I was installing a whole house water purifier in front of the water softener, it was BARELY of adequate length."
