Kenmore Elite 30 in. Electric Induction Cooktop Review

It's so Cool!

"I'm no master chef. I've cooked on electric and gas. I wanted gas but my only gas option here is propane, which is way too much hassle not to mention the expense to add.

I forget where I heard about induction but after researching it I was sold on the kenmore. We got it last spring, replacing a 30 year old electric unit. All the good things you've read are true. It's super fast.. faster than gas.

When I'm running late, I can make my over easy egg macmuffin type breakfast in less than 3 minutes.

(Mine beats mcd's taste by miles.)

I used to buy my breakfast at work (with employee discount at casino) every day. I've made it at home every day since putting this unit in.

The touchpad buttons aren't really problematic.. you just have to learn the technique for hitting them right.

The settings are precise.. adjust in half step incriments. The only sound is a slight hum. I liked the energy efficiency aspect. My husband had wanted one of those pro gas cooktops that look like a restaurants.. .. i was ok with that until I read the reviews on most of the big name units.. check the expense and frequency for replacing the heads!! I might as well burn my cash. Which you can't actually do on the induction cooktop, even if you put a bill under the pot on a burner. (cool induction trick). Aside from it's speed, I just love the look.. so sleek. It really is a cinch to keep clean. I really worried about that until I talked to a friend who had a regular glass top electric unit who said it was simple. No one mentions it but the kenmore comes with a great non stick frying pan (wearever).. I ended up buying the set for Christmas. We also had our counters replaced with Corian 's Aruba just before installing the induction unit. Stunning. :-)"
