Kenmore Elite 30 in. Electric Induction Cooktop Review
Best one yet
"We recently purchased and installed this cooktop, which is our third induction range. The previous ones have been GE models. This is by far the best one. It is virtually silent - the previous ones were fan-cooled, so you heard a fan running constantly while you cooked. This one only makes a slight sound, and only when on high. Speaking of high setting, this one's high power setting is much fast than the GE's were. Haven't timed it yet, but a tea kettle can get to boiling/whistling in just a minute or so. I thought the old ones were fast, but this one takes the cake. Also like having a built-in timer, which the others lacked. The "warm" control is nice too - keeps food just nicely warm until serving.
On induction in general, if you haven't used before, it is well worth it. We bought our first when our kids were little, figuring it was safer than regular electric cooktops, which it is. Even if it gets turned on accidentally, the top does not get hot, so child cannot get burned (of course, does not eliminate all hazards, such as a hot pan being pulled off, but one less thing to worry about). They are much, much better than a regular electric stove. I think they are better than gas, too, because they are faster.
Only down side to this unit is that the touch controls are a little "pickier" than my previous cooktops were. I think I'll get used to it - but right now, sometimes I have to press the control 2 or 3 times before it comes on. Maybe I just have to adjust my technique. A big plus for this particular one is that the Kenmore was much less expensive than other induction ranges currently on the market."
