"I bought this for my niece for Christmas. She gives my sister (her mom) so much trouble when my sis tries to read to her. You know how independent four yr olds can be. Well, I tried it in the store and bought one along with the Dora and Little Mermaid book. (I actually bought it from [...] b/c I got a case and an extra book Ozzie & Mack for the same [$]) Anyhow, you have to know that you must download the free audio for the books you want to put on the reader. The pen can hold 5 items at a time, but you can store any others on your computer for fast content changes. (kinda like an Ipod)I played with it for an hour. I did the fun activities, listened to the stories, and probably the feature my niece will love the most, is the character's talking in their own voices when you tap them.I strongly advice you to buy your 2 AAA batteries and set it up before giving it to the child. They're going to want to play with it immediately. My three year old has swiped it twice. She loves it, but just a little too young to fully appreciate it. (She has a clickstart that's just perfect for now). Buy this. A large library, and compared to other computerized learning systems, the "software" books are less expensive. THe software and USB cable for computer set up is very easy."

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
