"Here is the thing. Mackie an amazing Italian speaker company out sourced to China. Now I'm not hating on China or anything what I'm annoyed with is the lack of quality control, and "cost saving tactics". I've had the privilege to work with Mackie products for the last 8 years, and this last version of their successful SRM-450 is troubling.

Side by side the V2 gets good grades on design "look" and color choices. But cracking it open is another matter. The new speaker's voice coil has been down sized and the quality of the cone seems to have a lot to be desired.

While putting it through its paces next to an original 5 year old SRM-450 the sound quality difference was pretty noticeable at higher DBL's. By this I mean you can hear distortion in the in the v2 when you really push it.

Over the last few months I've watched the wear and tear on this product. Structurally its been sounds besides the average scratch and scuffs. However last week we noticed a developing tear in the surround housing the cone.

After a lengthy costumer service wait and conversation (trust me I wish I has bought this from PSSL) we finally were told that we could buy another speaker. I was grumbling for sure.

We have since hocked the V2 and bought some refurbished SRM-450. I invite you all to comment, do your own research and don't just take my word on it. but with so many people singing its praise I just wanted to give another option."

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
