"My wife bought this model for me for my birthday. I used it happily for 2 years until it just stopped working one day. I called Magic Chef to find out who was authorized to repair it in my area (since my regular repair place told me "they didn't want to mess with it"). The recommended repair company came, looked at it, and diagnosed it as a failed compressor. They also told me the compressor had a 5 year guarantee. After putting two new compressors in it, neither of which worked, they finally gave up trying to repair it and charged me nothing. If you go online you will find Iâ€™m hardly the first person to have this happen; it appears to be a common problem with this unit. Even though itâ€™s an economical unit, I wouldnâ€™t buy it (at least not without an extended warranty which Iâ€™m philosophically opposed to) and would opt for another brand. Good luck!"

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
