"Let's keep this brief. Every few years my back goes out and it isn't improving with age. This last time, I'd been almost bedridden for a month, despite visits to the chiropractor. We checked out foam topper prices at the local "Discount" store and pretty much choked.



On the insistence of my wife (listen up, guys) I ordered the 4" Memory Foam topper and waited impatiently until it arrived three days later. Men, the NEXT MORNING I woke up and was not in pain. My wife told me that I hadn't tossed and turned, which makes sense because I'd pretty much settled into a good position and conked out. No tossing, no straining of the back all night. She also slept better without me shifting around so much and felt very rested.



My next order was to buy one for my son and daughter in law, because he has back problems too and she is pregnant. They phoned me to say that they, too, had the best sleep yet.



Look, it took another two weeks for my back to recover completely and if you have one, you know bad backs never go away. But if you find yourself shifting around a lot at night, buy one of these and put good smooth sheets on it. There is a gigantic difference between restful sleep and what you are getting now.



Some pointers: This set is the 3-lb foam, very good. If you love your current pillow, get the 4-lb foam that doesn't include pillows. About the same cost, a bit cushier. However, I am totally satisfied with the 3-lb.

Next, when you first put the foam topper on your mattress, don't tug too much. Lift and shift to move it around so it won't develop stress tears. Also, plan on adjusting the length on the second day as the foam expands a few inches during the first 24 hours.

Lastly, don't put a mattress pad over the foam, use high-quality fitted sheets. A mattress pad will keep you from settling into the foam quite as comfortably.
