"I bought this jacket for use in the bitter cold, but often wet conditions of the Carpathian Mountain region of Ukraine, Romania, Moldova, and Poland. I work outside through the winter on orphanage construction projects; so I need a jacket that's warm, but also H2O-proof when the snow turns to freezing rain, then to ice, then back to snow in a single day. The performance of this jacket is beautiful; keeps you dry in anything but a complete downpour; but temperature management inside the jacket is still quite comfortable even when your heart rate is up. In my opinion, the only downside to the Megaplume is the fit. I'm 6'2"+, but only 180#, so I'm fairly skinny, but I have a really long wingspan. I first ordered a large, because of the sleeve length, but I felt like the "Michelin Man". WAY too much heat waisting dead space in my torso (especially the small of my back). So when I exchanged it for a medium, I found that, although the sleeves were closr to the correct length(ever so slightly too short, now), the torso was still too roomy; but I kept it anyway, and have been VERY happy. Yes...buy this jacket, and come help me build orphanages in the beautiful, but harsh Carpathian Mountain Region. [great belay jacket as well, for you winter Trad climbers in North Carolina..or the Polish Tatras]"
