Nikon D90 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-105mm VR Lens Review

"I got the Nikon D80 two weeks ago and then saw the rumors about the D90; I promptly returned the D80 to [...](thanks!) and got this baby kit yesterday, the day it was released. So my review will go over D90 as it compared to the D80. What I don't like about it so far:I miss the lens that came with the D80 because it had a wider range (18mm to 135mm); I am a zoom-in buff, so this is a biggy for me. The body is slightly bigger than the D80, and yet, it doesn't feel as solid as the D80 did, in your hands. There is no "auto-focus" option in the "Movie" mode, which is a little disappointing. In live-view mode, it takes a good 2 seconds to auto-focus and click. I don't plan on using live-view a whole lot, so it doesn't bother me personally. I am not sure about this, but I don't think the body is "weatherproof" (or "waterproof"?). I'm disappointed that even at this price, the consumer can't get a decent camera to shoot in the rain; I love capturing images in the rain. What I adore about it so far:Vibration Reduction - you can easily see the difference, especially when you are in the 80mm+ range; I noticed it right away after having just used the D80.Wider range in ISO settings and White Balance settings; you can play at various modes in broad daylight and also at night-time.I love to take night-time landscapes; D90 is very quick to adapt and use the external light source to give great pictures.Resolution is amazing, although I rarely print my pictures in 10x8 (or larger) sizes. The placement of the buttons on the body is very intuitive and easy to use. The in-camera touchup options are fun to play with. Those photographers who play with photoshop after capturing images might appreciate this. I'm not in to it, but I did have fun playing with a few options. The menu option on the LCD (and the LCD itself) come are amazingly clear. How I use the product:I'm a casual user and this is my first dSLR, although I have used a few from my buddies over the years. I finally had the budget to be able to afford a D80, but after seeing this baby, I was sold. It is *excellent* for home use, outdoor use, office use, landscapes and portraits. It is good for sports (and say, air-shows as well), although you'd have to get real good at using it for these purposes. Make sure you get the right filters (I leave a basic UV filter on it all the time), and you're set. Anyone having trouble meeting the D700/D300 budget can go for this and still get great picture quality. This is supposedly due to the high-end sensor (CMOS) used in D90. Less complications, more fun. You won't be disappointed with what this camera can do. Have fun!"
