The younger dog was willing to ring the bells on the toy hung from the doorknob for her signal, but he refused. When we moved, we no longer had the plastic blinds for him to ruffle, yet he still refused to ring our old bells.

Your bells not only look nicer hanging from the doorknobs than the toy, they also ring more easily. By putting a little squirt cheese or peanut butter on the bells for him to lick off, and then opening the door EVERY time he made them ring, the old dog has learned a new trick! He now very happily nudges them to ask to go out. And, because there are 4 bells on each, we can hear them well all throughout the house."
