Slim Shots Appetite Controller, 30 Shots Vanilla Flavor 5oz. Review

"I saw the commercial for SlimShots recently and appreciated that it took things seriously. No bikini models (who look nothing like me) running around on the beach. No insulting outrageous claims. This made me interested in learning more.



The box is larger than most diet-related products and feels more substantial. You can open it on the top, like normal, or pull out a little panel in the front to use it as a dispenser. Inside, you'll find 30 shots. They're exactly the size of a standard coffee creamer. It also comes with a hard plastic travel case so you can put a shot in your purse and take it with you without worrying about it breaking. This was a nice little touch.



According to the box, each shot is 20 calories and the active ingredients are all natural (palm oil and oat oil). They have a slight vanilla taste and it's a smooth, almost silky liquid texture. It's not thick or creamy at all. On the web site, I read that the way it works is by triggering your body's "appetite control mechanism" so you think you've eaten more than you have. It doesn't have any caffeine or something that'll make you jitter. It also means it doesn't work by blocking fat, which has side effects that concern me.



I've tried drinking it straight (which is fine) as well as using it with foods. I've poured it into my coffee, but I'm very picky about coffee so I didn't love it. I'm sure it's a personal preference. It wasn't bad, but I prefer it straight or in oatmeal or yogurt. The shots are so little to drink at a time, it's usually fastest to just swig it.



I did find myself not wanting to eat as much starting on the first day. It doesn't appear to work instantly, but rather a few hours later. So it's not like a meal replacement where you drink it and feel full. You need to take it in the morning to have an effect for the rest of the day.



Sometimes I'll take a second shot around lunch time to make sure my dinner and evenings are under control. I tend to be one of those people who looks through cabinets and refrigerators before going to sleep.



I haven't kept track of actual calories, but there is a difference in my eating. I feel like it's giving me a little bit of an edge to help fight cravings and I stop eating a little sooner than I normally would without feeling like I'm being cheated. I'm pleasantly surprised there's something a little more "serious" out there that has natural ingredients. I feel better about taking it every day because the ingredients are very simple to understand.



In summary, as someone who is sick of the other diets and supplements and programs out there, I thought this was a pleasant surprise."
