"The last good bike I purchased was in 1986. I bought a peugeot that was a great road bike at the time. I lived near a great 18 mile long bike path that ran through the city of Houston, TX and got to be an avid cyclist over the next 3 years. When I moved back to Dallas I didn't have a great bike path at my disposal so I gradually got away from cycling. I hated riding on the road with traffic.

I started looking for a bike just recently because I moved to an area that is more bike friendly. I was going to get a mountain bike because I didn't want the traditional road bike. Since I would be doing more street riding I wanted to have the upright position of the mountain bike for better visibility and awareness. I didn't even know about "hybrid" bikes like this until I went searching in earnest for a new bike. I found a great bike shop just about a mile from my home that is an authorized Trek dealer and they did a great job educating me on my choices. I settled on this model and couldn't be happier with my decision.

This bike fits my style of riding perfectly. It has great speed and climbs great. Much better for the type of riding I'm doing as opposed to a traditional road bike. If you're going to be riding mostly in an urban environment this is absolutely the way to go. You get the best of both worlds with this type of bike. The only thing I'm thinking about changing on this bike is the seat which is a little uncomfortable on rides over 3 or 4 miles. I'd also like some grips that are a little wider then the stock ones. My hands are not large and the grips on this bike seem small (width) to me.

This bike is incredibly light weight and easy to ride. It shifts smoothly and makes me want to get out on it. It's been a long time since I've felt this way about cycling and I'm hoping to get in some longer rides very soon. I'd recommend this bike to anyone that is going to be riding in an urban environment or is needing a bike for commuting."
