"My 10 year old cat has food allergies. I have to switch his foods often, as he seems to build up allergies to new food over time. When his allergies kick in, he responds with pulling out his hair on his back legs and stomach.

When I found this food I was really excited. I thought that possibly this one might be a winner - even over the long haul - as his main allergy is to chicken and this had no trace of chicken in the ingredients.

He did not like the food - he lost 4 pounds (1/3 of his body weight) in the 2 months that I kept hoping he'd like it. My Vet kept telling me that he'd eat it when he got hungry. He only picked at it - just keeping his intake to what he absolutely had to eat to survive.

Also, his allergies did not lessen at all. He continued to pull out his hair. When I realized how much weight he'd lost - I immediately switched him to a grocery store brand temporarily (Purina One Select), and he gained his weight back.

I think this is good for dogs and not for cats - even though it is advertised for both. I had bought many bags of it (trying to save money by buying in bulk) and ended up giving it to my niece. Her Black Lab loved it."

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
