"I was ready to spend close to $300 just for a receiver to run my digital TV through. Good thing I checked out Radio Shack. This receiver does everything & MORE than I could imagine & turns my small living room into a movie theater up to a stadium! HUGE sound & I got it on SALE! I'm very excited about everything though the speaker hook ups are tight. Leaves plenty of room to grow...." Read Full Review

"I use the product only because I needed a cheap way to use Fiber optic outputs from a digital audio recorder. The volume Pot is made from plastic and and needs replacing because it strips the pot shaft and has to be glue on. Plan on replacing the pot if purchased...." Read Full Review

"Semi Professional Receiver for a budget price.
Decodes all audio formats described in the manual.
Dolby Digital, all. DTS-ES, DTS-Neo6, DTS 96/24, etc. It actually does all of this ... but the digital source MUST be present at the coaxial or optical input. Make sure you have DTS compliant DVD player and that it is enabled DTS. Sixth channel on Accurian must be enabled with setup button in order to see all formats.
Compares with Receivers costing up to ten times as much. There's got to be something wrong with that!
Cons:
Needs another coax input.
VCR input and output should changed in future product upgrade to a DVD recorder input and output ... perhaps."

"I bought this Receiver not expecting a semi-professional receiver. But that's what I got! I really like this thing! 'Have been collecting audio and video equipment for a long time so I am amazed that the Accurian will deal decisively with whatever DVD audio format I throw at it. All DTS formats and Dolby described in the manual work perfectly. Make sure you have a DTS compliant DVD player with DTS enabled!!Be sure also to enable the sixth speaker on Accurian to see all of the formats come to life ... "DTS-ES" and "DTS-Discrete" ... etc. In analog mode and in 2 channel Dolby mode, the receiver simulates these formats and three effects ... Hall, Theater, and Stadium. WHEN Dolby 5.1 or DTS is actually present, receiver locks in on the Dolby or DTS format present ... only.Receiver has more than enough power. Makes small [$] speaker pair sound bigger than they are even with sub-woofer off. Sound is clean, impressive.Very nice Appearance. Price is unbeatable. I am very satisfied. 'Have recommended to others.Cons:'Wish there were more digital inputs. The VCR inputs may be unnecessary. Should be replaced with DVR input and outputs in next revision."

"At first I was looking at receivers that could decode HD Audio. There are several that can do that, most notably ONKYO 605. However, I realized that my Blu-ray player can't send HD audio. Thus, I acted rationally and started looking for a basic a/v receiver that could produce surround sound. I thought 9 other reviewers can't be wrong. I'm glad I bought this receiver. This receiver performs way better than I thought. FM reception with the antenna is superb. I use the receiver with SONY surround SA-FT1H speakers (5 speakers including center, front, left, surround left, surround right) and a powered sub woofer. Frankly, unless you have a ton of money to spend and you can really discern the difference between a $400 and a $1400 receiver (there are only 1 in 100 who can do that), you won't regret buying this receiver. The power is sufficient, it decodes most dolby and dts formats, and am/fm reception is great. Set-up is not difficult, it is aesthetically pleasing, and the remote blends right in with the other remotes that I have. I would have liked a couple more optical inputs but with just one over-the-air signal and one blu-ray player, I am alright with one optical and one coaxial input. All in all, great purchase for[$]"

"I love this receiver so far. I have only owned it for two weeks and I had to use the smaller speakers that came with a cheaper home theater unit but even with that, they sound wonderful!. I worried that the unit might overpower the speakers but it hasn't seemed to so far. It doesn't seem to power my powered subwoofer as much as I would like but it does do enough for a nice job. When I run my HD media player through the HD ports and then to my HD 42" monitor, it doesn't seem to be quite as clear as just connecting the HD player to my monitor directly. I may change that connection in the future but I'm going to leave it for now because I like being able to have the receiver switch back and forth between the DVD player and the media player with a click of a button on the remote. So far, it's great!!!!"
Pros:
"The system is working as it should be so far. I only have it connected to a pair of Sony SSB3000 speakers as I don't want to run wires all the way to the back of my living room. The sound was impressive when I tested it with Transformers. I like the 2 MP3 inputs for my iPod. A USB port would have been even nicer. Cheap! For similar price, you would only get a stereo system (as opposed to 6.1 system) with other brands like TEAC or Sherwood."
Pros:
"I was happy to find an inexpensive Sirius ready receiver. But could not get Sirius to produce sound, even with an outdoor antenna with good reception. The sales people at Radio Shack were clueless how to set it up properly, as their store setup bypassed the Sirius connectors totally, and as a result could not tell me what the problem is. The store manager studiously paid no attention to me when I returned to ask for help. Am taking this unit back as defective."

"I hooked up my new stereo to my home entertainment system and I did cartwheels when I heard how awesome this sounded! My dog started chasing its tail, the cat was break dancing and my wife starting cleaning! This system is the best! Easy to set up, great sound, and lots of options on the back to hook up all of your stereo equipment!"
Pros:
"the person that call this receiver garbage he is garbage him self this is a very good receiver, sound good, clean sound, good job accurian hopefully you would came up with a 7.1 and hdmi,i like it, it save me alot of money."
