"This review is for the 6-cell Ruby Red version. As is the case with most who purchase this system, I'm not interested in doing anything requiring a lot of raw power: I bought it because its portability means I can easily carry it for travel or use by the bed. I simply throw it in my bag and bring it along. The battery life on the 6-cell is exceptional, making it ideal for students or travelers who don't have re..." Read Full Review »

"The touchpad quit after 2 weeks. I had to pay to ship it to ACER after 5 days of poor troubleshooting advice. Only after I became quite beligerent, did they send the return authorization. About every 3 months, I have to delete and reinstall the touchpad to get it to work...." Read Full Review »

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1" Netbook Review
"This review is for the 6-cell Ruby Red version. As is the case with most who purchase this system, I'm not interested in doing anything requiring a lot of raw power: I bought it because its portability means I can easily carry it for travel or use by the bed. I simply throw it in my bag and bring it along.
The battery life on the 6-cell is exceptional, making it ideal for students or travelers who don't have ready-made access to outlets. This is the obvious selling point of the model over its predecessor 3-cell sister (which my husband owns), so I'd recommend that the buyer consider whether or not the extra battery life is needed.
I'm truly impressed with how the system performs. It boots and shuts down faster than my regular laptop. I expected a lot of down time booting and executing programs, but this hasn't been my experience. For reduction in time here, I'd also recommend scrapping the preinstalled McAffee security suite in favor of a program less resource dependent. Programs execute more quickly than I expected them to, and I am in no way disappointed with the power of this thing.
The build is very solid. There is no flex in the screen or keyboard. I'm not sure how it would hold up if dropped on a hard surface, though. I hope I never have to find out. Keyboard response is nice. The keys don't feel cheap or like they would snap off if more than a little pressure is placed on them.
This little machine is not without its cons, however. While the keyboard is easy to use, the slightly reduced key size will make for an initial increase in the number of typos one makes. It gets easier with practice, though, and doesn't stand as a major issue in my mind. The shiny, colored cases also attract fingerprints.
My model has the click button moved back the position below the touchpad as a lot of people had problem the the right/left click buttons being extremely unhelpful. Now there is one button that is mounted on a easily moving rocker arm - press the left or right side. I am not sure if this will not present a problem in the future with wear. However a quick tap on the touchpad itself simulates left-clicking. Still, scrolling and anything involving the right-click can be a little uncomfortable.
Older models had a problem locating Wi-Fi however I have had no problems at all. In fact it's been really hard to put down and walk away from. Overall, if you're looking for a netbook, this one will not disappoint. In fact I am getting one for my mother (69 yrs) because of its ease of use and portability with her wheelchair."

"After lugging my overweight Sony laptop through no less than five airports in one day I decided it was time for me to go with a laptop that could meet all my needs while not become a burden to travel with. The Acer Aspire One has met and exceeded those needs. It has all the features that any top line full size laptop has and its ease of use is second to none. Its lightweight, quite as a mouse and the keyboard itself is both comfortable and took less than a hour to adjust too. The built in web cam and mic makes this Aspire one heaven when it comes to running a program like Skype. Its like having the worlds best cell phone computer combo. The battery life is amazing coming in at a whopping 5 1/2 hours so far. The 10.1 screen is just the right size whether I am surfing the web, emailing or writing documents. If your looking to buy a netbook, the Acer Aspire One 10.1 will not disappoint. You really won't realize what you have been missing until you purchase the Acer Aspire One 10.1 it rocks! I purchase my Acer from J&R on the web [...]"

"This is just a neat little PC made for people on the go. It is light, fast, really easy to use;and has the really reliable XP operating system installed, and it doesn't take up a lot of space!
The key board is a little harder to use at first, but after a little use it becomes user friendly pretty darn quick. It would be nice to have a CD Writer/Reader installed; but that would also make it much heavier; and almost as cumbersome as a full sized laptop pc.
I have used my friends; and now I want one! For a few bucks more I would get the LU.S560B.103 model, which has the full 10.1 inch screen; rather than the one with the 8.9. I figure since they are both put in the 10 inch frame, you might as well enjoy the bigger screen; and get a bigger bang; for just a few bucks more."

"Seven computers at home. Broke my foot and can not sit at a desk. I have experienced 8-10 hours of battery life and found Hulu. This little puter has saved my sanity. Besides Hulu free movies, Facebook has connected family, friends and fun. Great reading news online. I didn't think small was good til now!"

"OK this machine is an excellent value for the money and if I had it to do over I would buy it, maybe sooner.I recommend it.
The battery life is much better than any laptop I have. The keyboard is surprisingly good -- and I have big hands. Certainly not full size, but workable. It runs Office and other programs without hassles. It is cute.
That said, there is a reason that Netbooks are not Laptops. At least without additional RAM it doesn't seem to be able to edit flip videos (don't know enough to know if that would solve it). The screen is not super sharp, but at home you can easily hook up to an external screen and that does look sharp.
But I wouldn't call those comments in any way disabling -- I love the size, weight, battery life, look, feel and performance. We got the XP version and I trust that after Oct 22 2009 it will be sold with Windows 7.
Bottom line: I highly recommend this for what it claims to be able to do. I am very happy with the machine. It's better and faster than I expected."
