"I purchased this Acer P221W for my software development activities after purchasing the similar Acer X213W for my wife a few weeks earlier (the specs on both screens are identical except that the X213W is a 21.6" screen and the P221W is a 22" screen). Both monitors were priced competitively with 19" screens let alone other 22" screens.
The Acer P221W performs beautifully in all important respects: sharpness, uniformity and level of brightness, and color rendition. There are no dead pixels and I could not detect any dark/bright spots or areas. Video images (e.g., web news) render smoothly and accurately. The screen has a matte finish and so there are no glare issues. Aesthetically, these are among the prettiest monitors you can put on your desk (thin, unobtrusive glossy black bezel, cool silver-colored v-shaped stand). While you can change the vertical angle of the screen, you cannot change the vertical height, however, the default height should be fine for most people. There is no portrait orientation option but that is to be expected on a value-oriented monitor such as this and such a feature is not usually a requirement for most users. All in all, you will be hard pressed to find a better 22" class monitor at this price range.
One final note, be sure that, if you hook this monitor to a notebook computer, your graphics card can support the monitor's resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels. My wife's ATI X600 card had no problem with that but my business notebook's ATI X1300 doesn't support that particular resolution which required some interesting gymnastics on my part in order to get a crisp image that properly filled the screen."

"this monitor is excellent! it's very easy to set up and lightweight, but sturdy enough so you don't feel like the tiniest bump will break it.
The only problem i had was setting up the color settings. I found the default settings to be far too light and the monitor tends to lean towards the magenta.... and it took me about a 1/2 hour to get the settings just right.
but that is easily fixed! this monitor is great! It has amazing resolution and for the price is a definite must have!"

"I had a previous Acer monitor and it worked great for 18 months and is still under warranty. But sending it back to be fixed is a real hassle and I'm not getting much support from the Acer folks. The current Acer monitor I have has a larger screen (up from my previous 19 to 22) and was a great price ... but ask me again in 18 months. Where it said 'No I would not recommend to a friend' is not because I don't like the monitor, but because of the problems I've had returning the previous one."

"I actualy bought one for my home PC and was so saticfied with it that I taked my boss into buying one for His Bussness... We do Graphic Desighn and Compercial Printing... and Display quility is of High Importance. Not only would I recomend this but I am planning on buying a second to go with a multi monitor set up."
