We purchased this model two months ago, based on research and review on the Web. The only positive qualities we found in this unit is the quietness and ability to maintain humidity, which is the main reason we bought it for our bedroom.



However, almost immediately after we started using it, we noticed a layer of white dust/powder covering walls, furniture and actually every inch of the room and other areas of our place rendering the unit USELESS. Even though we used the mineral filter to control the spread of the dust, the problem never disappeared.

"Truly a superior humidifier. It's ultrasonic and ultra-expensive for a two gallon unit, to be sure, but it does what it's supposed to quickly, silently and with a minimum of fuss, without any "issues" that seem to plague so many humidifiers - such as leakage, moldy filters, noise (fan noise or like a boiling kettle), difficult cleaning procedures, white dust, etc. Cleaning involves nothing more than rinsing out the tank with water while soaking the element in white vinegar and cleaning it with the included brush. Filters are expensive, as well, however, and have to be changed about every 3 months. Also, the unit uses a silver "stick" to kill bacteria and must be replaced once a year. The unit's humidistat is a simple dial and no more or less accurate than other models I've used. 600 square feet seems a stretch for capacity, but for a smaller bedroom nothing beats it."

"BY FAR the most silent of all humidifiers. The original Bionaire was quiet like this, since it also used an ultrasonic transducer. Air-O-Swiss claims "No White Dust"...WRONG!!!. My bedroom TV Screen must be cleaned each morning; it puts out more humidity than all others. No gurgling sound (which the other manufacturers claim is silent) and lots of moisture. I recommend it for those who need high humidity and true silence. Quality is great. Accessories like the "silver stick" antimicrobial accessory are very expensive, and the other demineralization refills are outrageous as well. The only one that comes in quality is Slant Fin, but they are noisy. The instruction booklet here is HORRIBLE. No diagrams or schematics, and the copy is even worse."

"This is an excellent humidifier, and gets five stars! BUT I wish I could clean it better; I trust I am doing ALL to maintain it, and I can use it ALL year, as I live in a very dry climate, and we have a parrot, so it is great for all of us! Needs to be cleaned weekly, and needs to have a Cartridge changed at least three times a year; The silver stick is replaced each year, and DO buy that HERE, as it is less than anywhere, to my knowledge! GREAT ITEM!"

"After trying several different brands of humidifiers, I finally found the one for me. Because I need this in my bedroom, I actually needed one that didn't sound like an earthquake all night. This machine is virtually silent, except for a few water gurgles during the night which are minimal. I love the fact that the steam output can be controlled and the direction of the steam as well. This humidifier is well worth the money."

"Terrific humidifier! I've used so many humidifiers that have broken down or I have thrown out because they're noisy, don't adequately humidify, get moldy etc. This humidifier humidifies my bedroom quite well and it's very quiet. The hot/cold steam options are nice and I like the de-mineralizer and anti-bacterial ionic silver strip. Given the features and quality, it's definitely worth the money in the long run."

"We have used this for over a year and it still puts humidity into our room with minimal noise. When I forget to refill the tank we know it before we get out of bed in the morning- it makes that much difference. We have had several brands over the years and this is the best. I fill it twice a day and keep it on maximum mist. We do have a lot of minerals and have to clean it about once a month."

I now look forward to waiting in line at the NYC post office during the holiday season to send it back to manufacturer per warranty (and sitting in an unhealthily dry, sweltering apartment until replacement comes). "I didn't like the visible stream of water vapor. It also put out a lot of white dust. I have an Ionic Breeze air filter, and I had to clean it everyday due to the mineral dust that came out of this humidifier. On the plus side, it was extremely quiet."
