"This filter is in many brands and models of fridges. I have seen it in many of the newer french-door models with the bottom freezer. The filter is covered by a rain gutter-like plastic trough that unlatches & swings down from the ceiling of the food compartment. Easy! "It just seems incredible that this product is so costly to replace. It seems there would be somewhere along the line, a savings in manufacturing that could be passed on to consumer -- it does appear there is significant mark up. Other brands noted for friends refridgerators, seem to last longer & are less in cost (in some cases due to generic brands available, where there are none for this Maytag type)...."
