"I have a multi-level waterfall, with several bowls that eventually cascade into a larger pond. I used to spend hours, lifting nasty string algae out of the bowls and scrubbing it from the rock crevices. "I bought the barley ball. A size larger than recommended. The Pond went green within a few weeks and never recovered. It was a expensive lesson to learn... The ball doesn't work. "I have used these for over two years. They do clear the water in the pond. Mine is 15' x 20' x 3' deep. Putting the refills in the ball is kinda yucky as it get covered in algae, but I found if you use two towels, one in your lap on one over the ball, it opens easily.
