The device and cord is very short for the depth on a large-size Big Green Egg smoker. It's obvious this wasn't designed for the BGE specifically

"Most electric charcoal starters have straight, short handles and coils. The Big Green Egg has a very well designed shape so that the hot part of the coil reaches right into the grill, and it has the right bend so that the coil is flat against the grate and you can easily pile briquets onto it.
