Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum - 82H1 Review

Got this on sale for [$] at Fry's!!

"My first bagless vacuum, and the easiest way to describe this unit is WOW! We have two cats, and I was totally shocked as I vacuumed our house tonight, after having done so with my 18 year old Hoover. My parents gave me the Hoover when I first moved out on my own into my own place. Its been a great vacuum, or so I thought. As I pulled up buckets and buckets of hair and "dust" I was just shocked at how much my old bagged Hoover missed. I saw the "dust" at the bottom, and I am talking spoonfull amounts. I looked at my spouse and said, its like we dumped ash all over our carpets. My spouse said that it wasn't dust, it was dander. EWWWWW! I am still stunned as I write this review. I have not even finished the house yet, and have emptied 7 times. Ewwww! The tools are simple to use and assemble. I especially like how they hid the crevice tool in the hose extender, so it is taking up less real estate on the vacuum. I would highly recommend this based on what I have seen thus far."

Best Vacum I have ever had

"From the first time I used this vacum I was very impressed. I have birds that make mess. This cleans everthing better then any other vacum. The power is great and the attachments let me clean every place I need to. I have told others to get this. One person tried mine and wnet right out and bought one."

The good: I bought this ...

"The good: I bought this vacuum shortly before Christmas and used it for the first time today. I was impressed with the amount of dirt and dust it picked up. I had to empty the canister once where my old vacuum (Dirt Devil) which has a smaller canister didn't fill after 3-4 uses so the say the least, the suction is good and picked up a lot that my old vacuum didn't. I wish I had more to say but unfortunately...

Cons: Half my fault, but the vacuum got stuck on the end of a carpet in my living room that has frills and the belt broke before I could pull it off. I had to use the hose attachment to finish vacuuming. This was a little upsetting for using this vacuum the first time. I took notice that the motor got pretty hot during use and dust spots collected on the back of the vacuum in a few areas where the hose(es) attach to the unit which leads me to think it's an air leak of sorts. Using the hose for getting into the tight areas, you have to keep the vacuum close to you or it will fall over.

I might have had more positive things to say about this vacuum had I been able to finish what I started but since the belt broke, I cannot. Overall, I was impressed with how well it did with picking up dirt but did not get to use it enough to make a more valued judgement and it's definitely better than my old vacuum."

"We bought this vacuum for a second home since the price was low and it will not be used much. On using the vacuum the first time it turned out to be very effective in picking up dirt and pet hair. We like not having to buy bags and being able to see what you have picked up. The only negative is that when using the hand tools the hose somewhat restricts the number of places you can get into and sometimes if you try to stretch the hose too far the unit will tip over."

This is my first bagless ...

"This is my first bagless vacuum cleaner and I can honestly say, I'll never go back to bags. This vacuum cleaner is absolutely amazing. Even after cleaning my carpets with my Kenmore cannister vacuum (retailing at over $250!), this $79 vacuum cleaner picked up almost a full cup of more debris. I was STUNNED. If you want a clean house, get this vaccum. Great value!!!"

Just finished my first ...

"Just finished my first cleaning with this machine... and I am very impressed! It is not as difficult to maneuver as some have posted, in fact I found it quite easy, and the vacuum is not heavy either. What I was mildly concerned about is the fact that SO much carpet fluff came up. It filled the canister in about 3 minutes. We have a new carpet, and I am told this is normal. But I think for now I will keep it on a lower setting. The canister is smaller than others I have used, and I imagine will need to be emptied frequently. But it locks in place with a lever and pops easily out and back in.

One of my pet peeves with these reviews is that often people get excited and post a review as soon as they get something, which is when they usually like it. I will review this vacuum again at different intervals with updates on how the machine is working. That said, I like it so far, and the price was great (best I could find online, with 15% off normal Sears price). I did a lot of research online before I purchased this item."
