"The following is what I emailed to the Perfect Pull-up:
Dear Perfect Pull-up,
>
> Last Thursday, October 9, 2008, I was on the 3rd rep of a 10 rep series, and both of my handles broke at the same time. I have my "Perfect Pull-up" system mounted in the garage above a staircase that leads to my work-out room above my garage. At the time of the failure, my feet were at least 3 feet above the steps. Honestly, I can't explain how I kept from landing on my back, but I landed on my feet and was able to keep my balance and not fall. I stood in SHOCK, with a grip in each hand. One part of the suspension pieces hit my shoulder which made my shoulder a bit sore, but I was just thankful I hadn't fallen and broken my neck.

> For your information, I am 5' 8" tall and weigh 160 pounds. Surely your handles are rated for that.
>
> Apparently you have a MAJOR design or material flaw.
>
> Great concept, UNACCEPTABLE product.
>
> If you want pictures, I will be glad to send them to you.

> I own 2 sets of the "Perfect Push-up" units and I have no complaints. On my oldest set, I put between 500 and 600 push-ups on them every morning, Monday through Friday. I have yet to have a problem. The second set is for travel. Based on my experience with the push-up unit, I purchased the pull-up unit as soon as I saw it advertised. I never dreamed it would almost kill me.
>
> Where do we go from here? Surely you don't want to get someone hurt. It has got to be an embarrassment for this to happen to a product that is associated with a "Navy Seal".

The Perfect pull-up people don't seem too concerned.
You be the judge. I have now made my own unit, ALL METAL. It WILL NOT BREAK!!"
Pros:
"I weight 202lbs. Bought in 2007. The handles broke doing a pullup. Both snaped at the plastic. Yes the handles are made of plastic. They have redesigned the handles to hold up to 300lbs. However, the originals were "designed" to do that also. I would save your money on these. Should have been made out of metal."
Pros:
Cons:
"The instructions were clear on how to install the bar and all the hardware was there including an extra screw. It also tells which size drill bit to use to drill into the door frame, which was much easier than trying to find the correct size. The bar is a little difficult to get onto the mountings, but once it is on it works smoothly. More exercises are available online. At [$] it is somewhat expensive, especially when compared to other pull up bars. I would recommend this to a friend cause of the effectiveness of the workout and the ease of installation. A chart giving a workout regimen is included too."
Pros:
Cons:
"it is the exact product i wanted to attach othe cable equipment to. If i ever hex the hex nuts unsealed"
Pros:
Cons:
"The Perfect Pullup™ is NOT so perfect! It is a piece of JUNK from Chine for [$]. The cheap plastic handles broke and scrapped my fingers and felt on my knees. The handles broke after I used them for about 14 days. Be very careful! You do not want to spend Christmas with scrapped fingers and blue knees. I took pictures of the broken handles. I will up load them later. This product should be made in USA since the company uses Navy SEAL name on it."
Pros:
Cons:
"I have seen the adds and was impressed initially, untill I read the fragility of the product. Power lifting straps are stronger that the straps provided in this system. What a joke. I was in the Navy post Viet-Nam and was trained by seal team members. I am surprised that a former team member would attach their name to a product like this. Again great concept, poor construction materials."
"BEWARE! this product is very dangerous and BROKE and made me FALL very painfully! The other two people are dead on. First off, the center bar is rusty just like the other guy said but that doesn't stop it from working... just not very professional.
I only weigh 148 pounds and I was doing a pullup and the handle on the left just snapped off... i was at the top of the movement with my legs up and WHAM! And since only one broke, I landed sideways and my hip and arm and back are killing me. I would have assumed that inside that plastic handle was metal. This product should be banned. I am obviously going to need to see a doctor and I wonder if they will pay."
Pros:
Cons:
"I must warn ALL when using both handles broke and I fell (185LBS) I call company and they said quality to retailers some times is not the same? \DO NOT BUY and do not by ANY products from this COMPANY since they DO NOT BACK there Quality!!!! I have pictures if you want. defrange[@]"
"Poorly made even though it looks professional. The center tube I received was full of rust and of course zero customer support. All this training device is good for is hanging clothes off of. Buyer beware."
