"I haven't used it on a hike, yet, but I like it. Looks really cool and seems like it would be fairly water resistant. It also has lots of room and pockets to store and separate your gear. "I bought this pack for sidecountry/resort riding, and its good enough for the job I give it. I dont require any real avalanche safety in my pack, but I keep spare gloves, goggles, a beanie, some food, and an insulated hydration bladder in it. Its held up just fine.
