Pros:
"I use the CAAD9 5 for fitness and training about 110 miles per week. The entire bicycle was assembled very well and the wheels have been outstanding. Minor derailleur adjustments were required. The bicycle weighs 19.3lbs with Look Keo Classic pedals and 2 carbon fiber Seras bottle holders. Shifters and brakes work very well. My weight is between 145 to 155 lbs."
Pros:
"what size was the cannondale you bought?"
"This is my first road bike. I had been using a hybrid for commuting and decided to start riding more. At first I thought I had bit off more than I could chew but now that I've adjusted to the different riding position etc...I love this bike. It feels fast, is responsive and just plain fun to ride! No regrets! AND, made in the USA!"
Pros:
"I have been a MTBer for years and the R5 is my first ever road bike and I love it. I know that I could make it a little lighter with different wheels, but for training this bike is on point. love the gear setup. very good at sprinting, but i haven't had a real chance to see what this thing can do on hills yet. planning on testing out this weekend. I may change the stem to something with less of a upward angle to see if that does anything."

Cons:
"For my first road bike I am very impress with this R5. Handles well. Great price and if I have to say anything that I don't like is the saddle. I need something with a little more padding, but that's just me."
Pros:
"I bought this bike to use during Sprint/Oly Triathlons. Since I'm new to the sport, I didn't feel like dropping $5-10K on a Tri Bike.
Man! This bike rocks!! Light as a feather and handles well! Takes the hills great and once I'm able to increase my leg strength, will only get better.
Only issue was a normal wearing in of the cables which was easily and quickly adjusted by the fine folks at Adventure Cycling.
I honestly don't think the seat is that bad, however, to date my longest ride is only 2 hours. Maybe once I build up to being able to ride Centuries, it might get a little uncomfortable, (but that's yet to be seen).
I would highly recommend this or any Cannondale to everyone."
Pros:
"I ride this bike for my M-F 20 mile morning ride. I find the CAAD9 5 to be very responsive, handles well and rides like a dream.
I went from a hybrid bike to a road bike and feared that I wouldn't be able to make the adjustment easily. But, my fears were unwarranted. From the moment I mounted the CAAD9 5 I felt comfortable and very relaxed.
I have no regrets. In fact, I am extremely happy with my new bike."
Pros:
"Upon purchase of this bike and being fitted to it, I went on the weekly Thursday night sprint. With my previous bike I struggled to finish last . With the CAAD9-5 I completed the run in fourth out of 12 riders. The crisp handling and excellent climbing response make this a must buy bike. What an ego booster which makes trainging fun instead of a chore."
Pros:
"The most important things to consider on the bike is what type of parts you want. I prefer if it's all evened out with the same level of parts like shimano 105 and maybe a couple ultra parts or something. But the 1st thing is you have to make sure the frame is comftorable under you if not you are not going to enjoy the bike. this Cannondale R5 is a stiffer frame so it gives a fast snap and acceleration. The wheels [...] had a sweet set in which its sort of reveresed engineered and helps you accelerate and keep your momentum. [...]"

"This is an update from Trace. I bought the CAAD 9-5 on July 3,2008, I have just over 500 miles on the bike and other than correcting some personal fitting to the bike I have had only one adjustment made to the bike, cable stretch on the rear shift cable. This bike is put through the paces in the Clermont area where we do have hills. With its ridgid frame and light weight the bike climbs like a mountain goat. I'm also a bigger guy to cycling at 6 foot tall and 210 lbs. and the bike is just great."
