"I just bought the printer + an extra package of 4x6 Canon photo paper. After opening the package I realized that you CANNOT use normal 4x6 photo paper for this printer. The drawer that holds the paper is slightly narrower than 4 inches and you cannot fit 4 inch wide paper in it. The paper that comes with the printer is also longer than 6 inches and you have to take of the end bits (perforation). It makes me angr..." Read Full Review
"Wow...Isn't that amazing.. A small little printer with some great quality and precision. The prints were awesome. (90% to what we see in the camera). If adjusted and calibrated, you can get more accurate prints. It is surely near to lab quality, [...] Any good vivid color print comes out within 1 min. If you are using on battery, it might take extra 30 secs. But you will never realise that it is taking time. You enjoying watching it print..(I am not joking).. Tried with Battery, it works good. Though you are on road and you are out of battery.. you can go to any shop and recharge and print again.. thats the beauty. It fits in the camera bag.. wow.. need to do something productive with it.. go get them fast, they run like hot cakes."

"I have used ink jet, lazers & dye subs. Dye sub supply shelf life is the best. printer & supplies can be left in an equipment bag for months even years and still be fresh. No print heads to dry out. My Canon CP's(6 diffetent ones over the years)have never quit working. Those I have given away are all still functioning. Never even a bad sheet of paper or film pack. The color & sharpnes always stuns people. Due to the layering process and the UV/water resistant coating prints out last anything I have used over a 35yr career. The portability is wonderful
dementions fit allmost any camera bag. Very happy with this product and it's small size."

"This printer rocks overall. We also have an Epson dedicated photo printer similar to this one but it uses ink & that was awful as the ink dried/clogged often. This Canon uses cool rolls & special paper that comes in packs instead of ink so we're not expecting that issue. It is fun to watch do each layer but beware you need to leave room in the back for the pic to come out! It is very simple to use but wish it was faster to scroll thru pics (we had 600 2 megapixel pics on 8GB SD card) as there is a pretty big delay between each and takes a long time to work thru a lot of pics. Wish it had feature like our Casio camera where you can zoom out to see a screen full of mini pics to quickly see & switch between them. Screen is adequate but kind of pixely if that's a word. Wish it had more features to tweak the pics a bit before printing (red eye is all I found) but it is nice it has USB port & software to do more on the computer instead. Suspect they wanted to keep it super simple & they definitely accomplished that. Btw, I wish the refill pack was about 25% cheaper & it would feel more appropriately priced IMO. We'll just watch them to be on sale or use our Best Buy coupons."

"Set up was very easy. The paper and the ink are packed together. Photos printed were very good. Colors were bright and very accurate. Some of the photos did have a tendency to be a little dark. If you use the printer for a long period of time it does get warm. Just let it cool a little and continue. Some people gripe about the cost per print for the paper. Sure you can get a better price but you cannot beat the fact that you can print just about anywhere and have the photos right away. I also like the fact the printer is small and very portable. I can not say how photos would look like printed from a computer as I have not try that yet."

"I purchased this product after the recommendation of a friend that had purchased one of the older models a couple of years ago. I never really felt the need for a home photo printer until a couple of days ago. I take a lot of photos and I just got tired of the drive and the wait time that is involved in getting them printed at a drug store. This little machine is the best thing since sliced bread! It prints just as good if not better then your local drug store! For just $100.00, I expected it to be just "ok" but I was pleasantly surprised. The beauty of it is that it uses the dye sublimation technology which produces great quality images, much better then your inkjet printers! However, this printer doesn't offer the same flexibility as the inkjet has to offer (i.e. you can use whatever size or photo printer paper you want). For the Canon Selphy printers, you must buy their specifically designed paper and ink cartridges, which renders the cost of each print a little higher then most printers (about 28 cents each). The cartridges will produce the same amount of prints each time, no more no less. Each photo will go back and forth four times in your little machine, each time applying a color (Yellow, Blue, Magenta) and the last a protective coat. The wait time for each prints is very acceptable, it's less then a minute for each print! Mine appeared to be much faster then I expected, perhaps 45 seconds? Also, when your photo comes out, it's dry! This printer's size makes it very portable but you must buy a battery separately if you don't want to use an electrical outlet. You'll also need to purchase a separate USB cable to transfer images from computer to printer (but most of us already have one laying around anyway!). ALSO, if you want a true 4"x6" ratio (without risking cutting off heads, etc), you must crop your images with that crop factor (i.e. Photoshop Element or similar program), and this is true for ANY printers, no fault of Canon. Most digital cameras aren't full frame (unless you want to pay loads of $$$$ for one), therefore, you'll need to be careful of your crop factor or you might cut off some important parts of your images. Also, if your prints should not come out exactly as you see it on your computer screen, it may be because your computer/laptop screen needs calibrated, do not blame the printer for prints that aren't exactly the same colors as you see it in your screen. Get yourself calibrated and you should be just fine. This little printer is by far one of the best purchases I've made in a long time!!! A great purchase for anyone that wants to print photos from home! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!! P.s. you can't print anything bigger then 4"x8" with this printer."
"This is a great little 4x6 printer. After reading many positive reviews I was still surprised at how good the prints turned out. The prints are sharp and vibrant in color though they can be a shade dark for my liking sometimes.
This printer also doesn't have any nozzles that need cleaning and can sit for months without me having to worry about it clogging up. The ink cartridges print exactly the number of prints that come in each pack so it is easy to keep track of how much ink you have left and you should never end up with more paper than ink.
Setup and operation was quick and easy. I haven't tried pictbridge yet as I mainly print directly from my CF card. Print times are quick and snappy and the LCD on top does it's job well."
Pros:
"I have a Mac with Aperture and use a prosumer DSLR. It is great to be able to take a picture, work on it a bit with the software and make a print that looks like it came from a good negative and was processed really well (an "old school" analogy).
It also allows me to print 4 - 2"x3" images of my pottery that I add a mailing label with my contact information on the back as a simple customized business card to match the pottery shown with the specific interest of my customer for about $.05
per card.
It is simple to use, offers many options which I can see allowing for other creative uses and the print quality is really good.
I was a bit freaked out that the software with the product didn't work with Snow Leopard but a quick call to B&H lead me to the answer, free download from Canon."
Pros:
"I was looking for a portable, inexpensive photo printer to take on location shoots and was extremely impressed by the quality of this printer. It was very simple to set up and operate and the picture quality was better than I could have ever imagined. The paper and ink ribbons are inexpensive and much cheaper cost per print than any ink jet printer. If you don't need to print larger than 4x6 prints this is the printer to buy. Canon hit a home run with this printer!!"
Pros:
"Just bought this item 2 days ago to use at home for scrapbooking. I love how this product will be portable enough for me to bring to my scrap classes and retreats. The colors are 2nd to none and very vivid. I like the fact that I can have the 4x6 as well as 2 other smaller sizes. This product is user friendly and print time is great. I see that it is discontinued, and now I am worried whether or not I will have access to supplies for it."
