"I really like this model. It works as well on our older low-pile carpeting as it does on our new high-pile carpeting. It is very lightweight and easy to use. "I have always been a fan of Royal vacuum products ever since I purchased a commercial quality Royal vacuum. I have an 11 year old step daughter that has a very hard time using the metal Royal vacuum because it's big and requires that you manually adjust the height. I decided to buy this Dirt Devil (made by Royal) because of the price. I figured it would be good for her to use for her chores, and she would use it more because it would be easier for her to maneuver. I wasn't expecting the suction or power to equal my big metal Royal upright. I was very wrong, as this Dirt Devil exceeded all of my expectations. The vacuum has excellent suction. The headlight is a feature usually found on more expensive models. After assembling the vacuum, my step daughter was excited to use it. As soon as she started I could see that this was an excellent vacuum. We have two large dogs that shed a lot. The vacuum was sucking up the hair in one swipe. She glided around the room vacuuming all the dirt up with ease. We have different styles of carpet in our home, and the vacuum did an excellent job with adjusting its height automatically. She then detached the hose and cleaned the corners and edges. I didn't even need to help her. I am very impressed with this vacuum, and would definately buy another one. I want to add that this isn't necessarily a full size vacuum. It is a little smaller, and the bag is a little smaller. It is excellent if you have a younger girl that does chores. I think it's a great kids vacuum, and it has wonderful suction."

"I purchased this vacuum a little over a month ago and have been pleasantly surprised. It was purchased as a vacuum to be used temporarily until we had enough money budgeted for a Dyson,- but now we may just keep this one! I've never spent less than $175 for a vacuum, and unfortunately this is the 4th one we've bought in almost 10 years! I gave this product 5 stars, taking into consideration the cost of this little guy! What a bargain! Easy assembly, the suction is great and it's so easy to vacuum the stairs now because it's so light!"
"It is light, and works on pet hair. However I have cats and it does not pick up cat litter, it shoots it around the room."

"Worst vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. Fourth time I used it the belt broke, I replaced the belt and it broke again the very next time I turned it on. Doesn't work well on long pet hair and dirt just gets sucked in and spit out the back. The noise this thing makes is horrible. I owned a dirt devil before and it lasted for years but never again."

"I typically do not write reviews about vacuum, but I will on this one because as a consumer, it's great to have feedbacks directly from others who had bought, owned, and use the similar product. Makes a better judgement on where to spend the money wisely.
I have two vacuums that broke almost the same time. I was considering replacing it with a dyson, hoover platinum, and meile, but all are over $200. For a long time I debated whether to spend that much money on a vacuum cleaner, plus I wasn't sure if I was going to go bag or bagless.
Ultimately, I decided to go bagged because I felt that the bagless just recycles the dirt back out. I tend to spread some carpet cleaning powder once in a while and when I was using my bagless vacuum, at the end of my run - I often see dust around the vacuum compartment instead of the inside.
Needless to say, I opted to spend less than a $100 for a vacuum and had decided to go upright bagged vacuum. I did some research of this particular model and saw the good reviews. Fits my criteria for my next vacuum, so off I go to my local Sears store. They had it on sale for $59.99, but told them the price online so they matched it.
I went home and the assembly took but 5 minutes. Few pieces to put together and total of five screws to hold everything together. First impression - plasticky but the it doesn't feel the cheap plastic type, yet lightweight. The brush head is narrow for sure, nice big wheels, and the on/off switch is right at your foot. First area to vacuum was my area rug, seems to do a good job. Next was the bamboo hardwood floors - while it did the job, I didn't expect a whole lot, but surprisingly - it picked up a lot more than what my previous vacuum cleaner did. It didn't just "relocate" them, it actually sucked it! I heard debris hitting the hose while it made it to the bag. Like I said though, I wasn't expecting a lot, but it still surpassed my expectation. Next was the carpet on the stairs and upstairs. I had the rollers brushed the stairs and it did a pretty good job (no I didn't use the wand). It had good suction that it picked up small debris along the corners, where my previous vacuum I had to use the wand. It was light enough that I didn't have any problems carrying the vacuum upstairs. Moving to the carpet upstairs. Because of the narrow head, I have to make several pass to cover a larger area, but it did the job. Carpet was cleaned! Perhaps the narrow head, help concentrate power to a small area resulting a better suction. With a smaller head, do expect to spend a little more time with vacuuming because your cleaning coverage is smaller at every pass. At the end of my run of this new vacuum, I was surprise to see very little dust outside of the vacuum which means the bag and the hepa filter did the job well of filtering out the dust.
For the price of $48.01, this vacuum did a fantastic job. I'm happy with it. Four stars because of the material used, and the vacuum is a little on the loud side. I would recommend probably listening to music while vacuuming. Other than that, I felt that I made the right investment.
Hope you find this review useful."
"I just received the Featherlite and used it immediately. I loved the fact that when I turned it on it felt ready to go. I clean houses for a living and have used all sorts of expensive vacuums. My most favorite vacuum is the Oreck, for it's simple construction, ease of use and light weight. The Featherlite could be considered it's low priced distant cousin. I couldn't give a great durability rating because I just got it. However, overall, I'd recommend this vacuum. It's lightweight, it picks up very well, and is very easy to use. Keep an eye on the belt, look for cracks or wear and this vac could last you a long time. And please, pick up before you vac! I noticed one person seemed to indicate that the belt wore easily. I believe that may have something to do with what you're picking up with your vacuum. I'm definitely glad that I chose this vacuum for my home."
"I was looking for a cheaper vaccuum that would get the job done. This one has a very strong hose that does not colapse with strong suction which is GREAT. It's not extremely quiet but then again what vaccuum really is. The handle leans back nicely on this one as opposed to the green featherlite so you can do nice long strokes without the vaccuum brush popping up in the air. I like bag vaccuums because they don't let dirt fly out all over upon emptying. I have allergies and this one does a good job containing the mess! I would surely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a good affordable vaccuum."
"I recently bought this vacuum because I was looking for the lightest vacuum made. I have neck and shoulder problems leaving me unable to handle most vacuums. This vacuum is light enough for me to vacuum bare floors and carpet! In the past, I have spent so much money on the "upgraded" vacuums. Only to find that they break down after a year or two! I figured at this price - I can't loose! I was worried about the suction, but works great. I agree with the idea of emptying a canister. Way too messy! Even the bags are cheaper for this vacuum than most others! Its a win - win!"
