Dyson DC16 Root 6 Cordless Handheld Vacuum (12157-01)

"This is a great portable vacuum. I like the idea it is cordless and it remains charged much longer than any portable vacuum I have owned. I also bought the car attachments. It works well cleaning the carpet and all the small crevices in my Smart car that other vacuums cannot get too. A great product!"

"I have a Dyson upright vacuum, which I love, so I thought the handheld would be a great addition. The Dyson Root 6 handheld has great suction and picks up everything, however the battery charge only last for 6-8 minutes. I called Dyson because I assumed that I had a bad battery when I only got a few minutes use before the battery went dead. I was told that the battery when fully charged only lasts 6 minutes and then needs to be recharged for three hours. The vacuum is desinged for short small spills, and not heavy duty house cleaning, such as stairs, baseboards or automobiles. Needless to say I returned mine, because if I am going to spend $150 I want a vacuum with a charge that lasts more than 6 minutes."

"I'm very satisified with this vacuum. It's very strong and works great on quick clean-up jobs. Notice the word 'quick'. If it's taking longer than 5 minutes to vacuum, you should be using an upright anyway.



I found it far superior to all the Dustbusters I've owned. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is very expensive and is quite loud. Other than those two issues, I'm very happy with it."

"I have an upright Dyson and I love it, so I thought I'd love this one too. Not so much. It's awkward to use as you have to press the "trigger" the entire time that you are using it, which makes cleaning more difficult. I find that the suction on my little dustbuster is as good, if not better. Also, the tip of the vacuum is small, which is fine for precise cleaning, but it takes a lot of time when cleaning up a larger mess. Again, my dustbuster cleans more efficiently. Plus, it's bulky and fits into the charging unit awkwardly as well. I love Dyson, but this one struck out with me. $150 is pricey too, considering that it really doesn't work better than a good dustbuster."

"This is the best vacuum for animal hair I have ever used. The rotating head cleans like a champ on both dog and cat hair. Easy to empty. Wish the battery lasted longer but it would probably be too heavy if the battery were larger. The suction is better than any handheld I have used. Works great in the car also.

Worth every penny of the price."

"I have purchased a dyson vacuum last year. It's wonderful. So I decided to continue the collection. I recently bought the Root 6. Although it lasts between 6- 8 mins. before recharging. It's perfect for the quick tidy up job. The suction is amazing for being run off a battery. Plus it beats hauling a vacuum up and down the stairs for a small task. I am extremely pleased with this product. If a small task exceeds the duration period of the root 6....then you should be using a regular vacuum."

"You get approx. 6 minutes of battery life. If you can get past that, this is the portable vacuum for you.



This lives up to the Dyson name when it comes to suction power. For those of you that have used a Dyson, you will know what I mean. It picks up dirt much faster than a regular portable, which means it cleans more area in less time. Therefore, the six minutes of power is usually sufficient for the area that I am using a portable vacuum for. Otherwise I would just pull out the full size one.



One con is that it can get a little heavy after about 5 minutes of use. So you're pretty much ready to stop by the time the battery runs out.



There is no power degregation when the battery dies. It runs at full power until it just shuts off when the battery dies.



Battery charges is about 30 minutes. I find that quite acceptable for my use. There are 3 LED's that show the battery level when it's in use and when it's charging.



You can wall mount the charger, which will hold the Dyson upright. I have yet to wall mount mine.



Like the full size Dyson, it's a breeze to empty. Just hold the unit over a gargabe can and press down on the red release lever located on the handle. The bottom of the collection cup swivels down and the dirt falls out. Snap the bottom back in place and you're done!"

"It performs better than any battery powered hand vac that I've used--about 4 different brands/styles. The vacuum was purchased to do cleaning in a corporate airplane. Dyson has more suction and the run time is as advertised; about 6 minutes. That time was exactly what I needed to go through 15 feet of cockpit and cabin carpet with a little left over. It is designed for cramped spaces where a portable vac would be needed. I think the reviews that expressed dissatisfaction with this vac were expecting the power of a plug-in vac. But for a battery-powered vac, this one is second to none. If you need more time, buy a second battery."

"When I was researching on this product, many folks say that the vacuum time doesn't last long, etc. Well, I was afraid this would be the case too, but when I got this product and have now used it for a couple of weeks, I totally disagree with those that made these claims about this handheld vacuum not having a longer vacuum time.

I think Dyson did a great job coming out with this handheld. It does it's job very well. Picks up tiny bits of dirt and dust, etc. It's not made for large volume vacuuming - so don't expect it to! It's powerful, more powerful than of the other handhelds that I've own in the past. I am very satisfied with this unit. If you're shopping for a handheld, this unit is certainly worth the investment. You won't be disappointed."

"We have had the Dyson handheld for over 6 months, and use it practically everyday. We have 2 cats and 1 dog, and were needing a good quality handheld vacuum to do quick sweeping of animal hair, litter, dirt tracked in the house, etc. This fits the bill! The battery life is as advertised, about 6 minutes. If you need longer, then the job is probably a little big for a handheld to begin with. The suction is the most powerful of any handheld I've owned (and I've been through many!). To make sure to get the most out of the battery, we leave it plugged into the charger when not in use. Make sure it slides all the way in to the charger - so as to maximize charge. I can empty this easily over the trashcan with the flip of a switch and do not have an issue with dirt flying around, as I did with some handhelds that had to be pulled apart to empty. Ideal for families with small children and pets!!!"
