"I was in desperate need of a good vacuum -- we have a very large dog who sheds horribly, two cats, and an 8 month old baby who just began crawling. I was tired of picking pet hair out of his hands, mouth and toys. I didn't want to bother toying around with cheaper vacuums and so I went straight to the Dysons. Got it home and vacuumed everywhere, including under beds, sofas, you name it. Suction: Great. It does ..." Read Full Review »

"it is a piece of junk. All the DC 25 sold to a local store had material defects with the telescoping wand. Wand has a spring that is supposed to open and close. Dyson has a franchise store in NJ. Dyson requires you to pay a [$]. Warranty is never honored by Dyson. When I complained to the Dyson headqaurters staff, was told that it is my job to go on my hands and knees before vacuuming to make sure there is no loose change, bobby pin etc. Otherwise the warranty is void even though this was a clear defect affecting all models sold by the local store. The staff i spoke with at dyson headquarters are rude and unhelpful. One manager kept me on the phone for over an hour. He kept calling store and everyone else to confirm all models were defective. He refused to do anything even once he confirmed. SO why did he keep me on hold for? How can a major consumer product company refuse to honor their warranty? I am suing them in court to get them to honor their warranty. Hoover has a six year warranty and actually honors it. Electrolux has a two year warranty and allows stores to return products with no questions asked. Dyson's five year warranty is voided once you use it to vacuum the carpet. You are paying a lot of money for a mid range vacuum with no warranty and poor product support. How many major consumer products companies have a F rating? I managed an appliance store for several months in a previous position. Sold lots of vacuums and dealt with lots of companies. Dyson is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Stay away from Dyson. Go with an electrolux or hoover. Trust comsumer reports and Better business bureau if you dont want to trust me."

Suction: Great. It does a very good job of getting the pet hair off the rugs and wood floors (and furniture). I can finally let my baby crawl around on the rugs and he isn't covered in dog hair... maybe a stray piece here and there but that's it (must vacuum every day). The downside is that the suction is so strong that it's a bit difficult pushing it across our shag rugs, and we can't vacuum throw rugs without a fight (like the bathroom kind).
Hose/Tools: takes some getting used to. It's a bit awkward using the hose, but then again I think most vacuum hoses are. The vacuum keeps rolling into me while I try to use the hose. The tools are basic, nothing fancy. The low reach floor tool would be a good addition.
Weight: While this is lighter than most Dyson's at 16 lbs, I still feel like it's somewhat heavy for me. Especially when trying to push it over the thicker rugs. It's almost as if the center of the weight is in the handle and that's why it feels heavy.
Ease of Use: The ball feataure is nice to have but I'm not overly excited about it. The unit is still challenging to move around in small spaces (as with most vacuums). The dirt bin empties easily. The off/on beater brush switch is nice to have, handles wood floors well.
Other notes: The vacuum seems to exhaust warm air, to the point that i can actually feel the room getting warm. Cord could be longer. Relatively quiet. Would be nice if the handle had some soft rubber, my hand hurt after using for long periods. The foot pedal to release the vacuum seems to stick sometimes.
Overall Summary: I give this 3.5 to 4 stars because of the quirks mentioned above. If rating on suction and how well it handles pet hair, I'd rate it 5. I'm thrilled that my baby isn't covered in pet hair anymore. But when spending that kind of money on a silly vacuum, my opinion is that it should be perfect. I wanted to be "in love" with this vacuum, and while that's not the case, I do still really like this vacuum. But the price tag could be lower."

Dyson Dc25 All Floors Vacuum Iron Satin Yellow Review
"I just purchased this vacuum after our Bissell Healthy Home stopped working within it's first year (the spinning brush bar stopped working after 4 months)
I decided that instead of messing with cheaper vacuums that don't work, I'd invest in a better one. I had a girlfriend of mine recommend that I buy the Dyson Animal (She loves hers for her small family of 1 dog & 3 cats), but I did not do so without a lot of research. I was interested in the original Animal (DC17) & the original Ball (DC24), I was torn between the need for a great pet hair grabber and the maneuverability of the ball. I'm so glad I waited since I found out that Dyson did just this, combine the two vacuums I was pining over and I ecstatically bought the DC25 Animal, I am very happy with this vacuum already! I have berber carpets in my house, and the vacuum did not damage the carpet, but instead cleaned them very well. I also like the mini turbine head, our cat loves to sit on all of our high back overstuffed chairs, it removed all the hair with ease. I'm also a busy housewife with a little one. I can easily scoop her up in one arm and pick up the Dyson in the other. I am very impressed and recommend this vacuum to all !!"

Dyson Dc25 All Floors Vacuum Iron Satin Yellow Review
"I purchased this sweetheart yesterday. I was hesitant to shell out over [price] dollars, but it came with a [price] gift card so it was a better deal than the DC25 All Floors (which is also pricey). I do not have animals in my home, but did buy this model because of the gift card. This one costs more (regular price) because it has an extra attachment....an upholstry brush that has rotating bristles. Other than the extra attachment the 2 vacuums are identical except for the color. I also kinda liked the royal purple over the bright yellow. I was still unsure if I had made a wise decision spending so much. It took me 15 seconds of running this baby, to fall in love with it! It pulled so much out of my carpets that I could not believe what I saw in the canister. We generally do not wear shoes on the carpeting & it still tooks alot of gunk out! Probably all kinds of micro-organisms & dust mites & hair. The whole house even smelled fresher. This vacuum is So EASY to manuver..the ball design is great! I highly recommend this machine! You will not be disappointed!"

Dyson Dc25 All Floors Vacuum Iron Satin Yellow Review
"I just bought my dyson and before i got rid of the old one, i vacuumed my living room - to test if dyson would pick up anything afterwards, see i'm a skeptic! and boy, do i stand corrected now or WHAT?! great suction, not quieter than other vacuums, but considering the suction power, it's NOT bad at all, just the normal noise. VERY lightweight i would say, compared to its competition. Then i wanted to clean my car with it and it worked wonderfully!! now the only problem is that i'm leaning forward to see the dirt being sucked into the canister, and it's giving be a backache, but hey... it's worthed!! buy it, you won't go wrong. save some money, and wait till some sale comes along and also sign up for sears' deals to get an email alert for "friends and family " discount - another 10%"

"sounds like a terrible experience and a terrible vacuum. I've never heard of any vacuum that can't handle change or loose stuff on the floor. What's the point of having a vacuum if you have to clean up before using it?"
