"I was set to buy another brand pet-type vacuum until I started reading reviews about how it didn't do what it claimed to do. I found this vacuum sort of on accident and scoped out all the reviews here and on other sites. All I can say is I'm so glad I bought it!



My niece had us watching her dog and we had two cats - one of which was a long hair. (She passed away.) Hair everywhere! Plus, the dry house with winter and the hair just stuck to everything. My older Dirt Devil finally gave up the ghost.



In comes this vacuum. So easy to put together and even easier to use! And it does what it says it does! Imagine that!



No smelly vacuum smells while you're vacuuming. I'm assuming it's the HEPA filter and the bag with filter that's controlling that? But the other thing I noticed is that there is no exhaust blowing back on my legs as I vacuum. My old Dirt Devil seemed to kick as much dust out the back end as it was sucking in the front end! This vacuum does not do that at all!



Once the brush engages, it resembles the self propelling lawn mowers because it glides so easily.



The suction on the hose is unbelievable! The attachments are able to do their job because the suction is there to do it.



There is one thing I would have liked different on this. The extensions and the hose for the attachments are not long enough for me. But I think I can purchase extras.



It's a heavy unit but you don't notice it unless you have to lift it up for some reason. Then you notice the weight.



The pet brush is also used for the stairs, which is a God-send for me. I have a split level and if I had to lift this vacuum on each stair like I did my old one, it just wouldn't happen! The pet brush has a rotating brush inside that moves much like the brush on the vacuum itself which moves the carpet on the stairs and lifts up the hair and crud so it can go into the hose.



I also so a review where someone complained that it had a clear hose. I like that! I can see if there's a clog and the directions told me how to clear it with the easy method they built in to disconnect the hose section without taking apart the entire cleaner. Sometimes my hose gets static electricity and starts collecting the pet hairs on the outside. I just spray a rag with some dusting spray like Endust or whatever and wipe it down. Problem solved.



Another review I read said that this vacuum makes your carpets look new or shampooed. I can also confirm that! I don't have a high nap carpet yet some how this vacuum makes them look like they were just cleaned! It's almost scary because I know it's not a shampooer!

"yes, it is heavy and not really easy to lug around, but the suction is just incredible! i went from the bissel lift off, to the CR best buy and there is SUCH a big difference. i have a german shep/husky mix, so the shedding is constant. the hair would clog the bissel everytime i'd use it. i have used the eureka boss now for a week and it hasnt clogged once! matter of fact, when u turn it over to look at the brush, u cant even tell i own a dog! lol. if u have babies, get this vacuum! just dont be scared if the suction is just WOW on all floors and wants to suck in the hard flooring!"

"The bottom line is this is a great vac for the price. It only has a base set of features, is a bit heavy, but has strong suction, performs well, and is reliable/durable.



This is the second SmartVac I have owned. I purchased the first one based on the consumer reports review/recommendation and haven't been disappointed. The vac has been consistently used several times a week and is just now beginning to show its age - the suction isn't quite as strong (not bad for a comparatively inexpensive vac). I was pleased enough with the performance I purchased a new one recently as a replacement. However, the old one works well enough I decided to dedicate it to my upstairs so we don't have to lug a vac up and down. It still does a great job and will get half the usage."

"I have had this vacuum for one month and it is great. The amount of suction is unbelieveable. It is picking up so much more than my old vacuum, that I have to change the bag after each use.



I have two dogs that shed and this vacuum is pulling it out of the carpet. The house is noticeably cleaner than before. There is less dog hair floating around.



This is the extra wide model that is about 2 inches wider than before. Personally, I wish it was 2 inches narrower, but it only restricts being able to vacuum under one piece of furniture in the house, everthing else is ok.



While the vacuum is heavier, I still believe that it is very easy to handle. No worse than my older, lighter, and smaller one.

It is heavy enough that if you have to vacuum stairs, you would want to consider another model. I have mostly flat surface and it works great for that.



I was considering $900 vacuums, and got this on sale at Sears for $140, so I had enough left over the buy an LCD TV and got a great vacuumn!"

"This item is all it states it is and then some. I have a 165 lb great Pyrenees and believe me he Sheds!!! I would burn through a vaccumm every 6 months I have had this one for a year and it still keeps on making my carpets and funiture and curtains look new again. There are no cons, it does use bags often but look at what it is sucking up (alot) It does its job. I have never had a problem with my foot lever and it has a heavy pull because of the suction power, which is great. I get a work out and extremely clean carpets and with the HEPA filter good bye dust mites and pet dander. I use my eureka to clean out my dryer vents and my sealings around my vents and on my ceiling fans. I wonderful product very happy and highly recomend especialy the price. it works just as good as my aunts pet DYSON and she actually liked mine better and went and bought one. Her $500.00 vaccumm now sits alone in the closet. : )"

"I was looking for a moderately priced vacume that had some good features. I love 3 main features of this vacume!

1. It has a diverter that lets you turn the switch from floor to hose. This lets you select all the suction to what you are using. most vacumes have bolth the hose and floor suction on at the same time and this makes you get less suction from bolth.

2. It turns off the brush on the floor when in the upright position. this is realy good for while you are using the hose. the brushes arent rotating putting wear on those parts.

3. bagged suction wich is more powerfull than most baggless in this price range.



I did find that the vacume is heavier than or old one. I dont find it a problem though.



Go to the store! Sears wil let you demo them in the store! this is how we decided on this one, but using it first!"

"Eureka The Boss Pet SmartVac Vacuum is amazing. I have owned it for a few months now, and I love it. To be fair though it does have one minor flaw, the extension wand does not stay in place while you vacuum. I use a rubber band to keep mine in place. Its a MINOR design flaw, and possibly only an issue with my personal vacuum. Regardless of that I would and will buy this Vacuum again. It is noisy, heavy and if put on linoleum on the lowest setting is a beast to move due to its great suction. BUT, I LOVE it!!! I have a 140lb Shepherd mix, and a 9lb chihuahua, both dogs shed a lot. This vacuum seriously loves eating the pet hair. With other vacuums I would have to go over a spot up to three times to get all the hair, this vacuum is always on the first try. Plus with the full power adjustable to go to the extension hose or the floor vac, it makes for some serious suction at all times. The tubes are all see through to help you locate any trapped items, and the vacuum itself can be lowered to completely flat to go under beds, sofas etc.. All the pet wand tools work wonderfully, the beater bar stops spinning if you put the vac in the upright position (so it doesn't harm your rugs, or carpets) and the best part is the non-tipping extension hose. Normally when you use a wand you are trying to reach places, my old vacuum used to tip over on me when I tried to reach someplace to far. This vacuum just moves toward your direction and NEVER tips over, its amazing!!! All in all I love this vacuum, its easy to use, cleans wonderfully, and gets 100% of all the dust and pet dander out of my house.



PS- to release the vac from upright position push very hard on the release pedal, it will feel like your going to break it, but it won't break. Just push till it releases from upright position. "

"I bought this vacuum after my kenmore canister stopped working after 7 years. It has WAY more suction than my kenmore ever did, and my carpets are definitely cleaner. I think it does a great job especially on getting the dog hair out of the carpets. Plus it was $200 cheaper than my kenmore was!"

"I also loved the vacuum but after just 3 months the belt broke and I cannot find one for sale any where. I've had vacuums that went without a new belt until they weren't working well (after months or even a year) but never had one shred on me . Please before you have company coming and really need a vacuum think twice about buying this machine unless they can provide you with replacement parts!"
