"I purchased this product with my first child, and it never worked. He was definitely a pacifier baby, but he wouldn't take this one. Also, it is inaccurate. I sucked on the thing myself, and it said my temperature was 85. I did it again five minutes later and it was 88."
"Frankly I'm surprised the Red Cross put it's name on this product. As an ER nurse I would discourage anyone from relying on a pacifer to obtain their baby's temperature. The only truly accurate way to assess a child's temperature (meaning one who can not hold the thermometer in their mouth, under their tongue, with lips closed) is to assess the temperature rectally. Done correctly, this does not hurt your child, they pass stool larger than the tip of regular thermometer. The pacifier, under the arm, forehead and even some ear thermometers, are simply inaccurate too often to be reliable. Skip the pacifier thermometer and buy a rapid result stick thermometer, most are 8 seconds or less, and use it rectally for the most accurate temperture of your child."
"This thermometer was not all that useful. When or baby would be crying or upset, and we would try to take her temperature, she would refuse to suck on the pacifier long enough to take an adequate reading. Now don't get me wrong, she LOVES the pacifier, but the pacifier thermometer did not work for her. We found it much easier to use the one that scans in the ear; Less than 2 seconds and your done."

"This is a VERY easy and safe way to take baby's temperature (as long as your baby likes a pacifier). I have double-checked the results with the forehead scan thermometer and under the arm with a traditional thermometer, and it was always right on.
No squirming, no chance of hurting baby and no fighting. I love this thermometer."
