"Pros I've been using the Forerunner 201 for over 5 years and it does a great job of giving pace and distance covered for each run. It also provides a history of your running sessions. The history can be downloaded to your computer via the supplied cable and software though I have not used that feature. Its got a great feature that I use when traveling. It will record your current location and provide you with a..." Read Full Review

"I tried the Forerunner 201 on all kinds of roads and trails, and it never tracked more than 15% of the total run. You quickly find yourself distracted from the run, worrying too much about the lack of signal. I since bought the 305, which is much better...." Read Full Review
"We have the Garmin Forerunner 201 and a 101. We use both daily - for running and biking - and snow skiing/boarding in the winter. I've recommended them to friends and bought them as gifts for family. It's a little large (significantly larger than an average wrist-watch) but works great and has all the functions we need - distance, time, pace, elevation."
Pros:
Cons:
"This device works reasonably well, at a good price. It works best on open roads or trails, away from trees and steep hills -- hence it's not ideal in the Bay Area. Overall it is pretty accurate, though it is not accurate for track/interval training, and occasionally will suddenly mismeasure distances on courses it has previously measured accurately. It can also have difficulty acquiring a satellite signal."

Cons:
"This is a great little product. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for it. I have a number of friends sporting the same model who love it. My only complaint of this product is the rubber cover to the button controls is a bit flimsy. Mine broke off exposing the up/down control, however, it hasn't been a problem. I primarily use mine for endurance riding & running."
Pros:
Cons:
"I am a Trained Mountain Leader and qualified Walking Group Leader and find this a useful peice of kit to have in my 'just in case' sack in my Rucsac. Solved the battery problem by using lithium batteries. GPS is quick and Easy to use and has been very useful in whiteout conditions on a very barren stretch of the Peak District in the UK."

Cons:
"Bought this to keep me interested in my new exercise program. A simple and lightweight navigator/training aid. Great for keeping track of runs, bike rides and snow board runs. Has just the basic features, with a built in fitness partner and track logging without being too complicated. Garmin has great customer service too."

"WOW for the price of only [$] this watch is the best ever especially for the price. I bought 2 of them and I am totally pleased. Sports authority is the place to go. For just [$], just can't beat the 201 garmin forerunner!"
Pros:
"I really like the trainer for all that it is and does; however, I lack confidence in its distance (and location) capabilities. But, to give it credit, I live in an area that is somewhat mountainous which could be having an effect on the signal (the GPS will show I ran 2.5 miles while measuring in my car shows 2.0 miles).
Otherwise, it is very lightweight and not really noticeable. It has some decen features for the price and Garmin products are usually of good quality."
"Pros
Has lots of functions that can push you in your workouts. Can be used with walking running biking and driving.
personal trainer allows you to race against the computer.
Cons
sometimes loses signal if under alot of trees. So many fucntions it takes time to learn to use all of them."

"Pros
I've been using the Forerunner 201 for over 5 years and it does a great job of giving pace and distance covered for each run. It also provides a history of your running sessions. The history can be downloaded to your computer via the supplied cable and software though I have not used that feature. Its got a great feature that I use when traveling. It will record your current location and provide you with a direction to take to return to your original location. When you are in a strange city, its a helpful feature to get you back to your starting point. Interestingly, I've also used the device when skiing and hiking to provide location and distance information. An all around great device.
Cons
It takes several minutes for the device to acquire GPS satelitte signals. Typically, I turn it on and set it outside a few minutes before my run to allow it to capture the GPS satelitte info."
