"I am returning my second Nuvi 775T. The first one was a previously returned unit that was sold to me by another retailer (i didn't know it was a returned unit until I registered it). There were four problems with it: 1. It froze on route calculation. I had to do a total reset (erase all user data) to fix this. 2. After I hung up using the blue tooth feature, there were no sound. Didn't happen every time, but if ..." Read Full Review »

"It can take up to a minute or two to acquire satellites even when sitting in the middle of a parking lot exposed to the open sky. In a short 1.5 hour drive from San Francisco to Palo Alto starting with a full charge, the battery was almost drained by the time I reached my destination. Sometimes, when starting out on a journey, it says to "follow the marked route" but instead of the thick pink line that usually shows up, a squirrelly cyan line shows up and it doesn't seem to quite follow any of the roads. This makes for some confusion. After the car moves a couple of hundred feet, the expected thick pink line shows up. I don't know why this is. Also, the Lane Assist feature works only for major highways. In the back roads where there are forks in the road, it doesn't work so well. Also, even not asked to divert around traffic, it seemed to direct me on a roundabout route instead of the most direct route even when driving around midnight when the roads and highways are devoid of any traffic. The traffic delay feature provides a little icon with the amount of time of the delay but it seems to be rather inaccurate and useless. Other than the above caveats, it appears to work mostly as advertised. Entering locations with street addresses was a breeze. Thus far, I've tested it on a trip from San Francisco to Palo Alto, within Palo Alto, to Milpitas to Palo Alto and back to San Francisco. It worked quite well, even when I missed a couple of turns due to the use of back roads (as discussed above) and it had to recalculate a new route for me."

"This is a pretty good GPS for an auto GPS and I got it for my wife because it included the European maps since we'll be traveling there next year. It was very easy to set up and get rolling with and it finds the satellites quickly. It also gives a good lead time when giving directions. Imediately after one direction is accomplished it will show an arrow in the upper left corner (with mileage to) what your next turn will be. When on the interstate doing 75mph, it gave me enough notice for me to changes lanes safely to make my exit unlike some other GPS's I have used where you are almost past the exit before you get notice. It gave pretty good directions and if you make a change and it recalculates the new route it doesn't want to take you back to where you deviated. Some other GPS's want you to return to the point of deviation instead of taking you foward you end up back tracking - not this one. For the negatives: I found that the volume is still not loud enough with highway noises especially if you choose a male voice to make the announcements. A nice feature (at first) is that you can have it play the announcements (and a built in mp3 player) thru your radio but on a long trip where radio stations fade in and out, I was having to re-reference to a new station all the time or endure endless static and popping thru my radio. I eventually quit using the radio feature and chose a high pitched female voice. Another thing that I don't like is that this GPS still wants to use highways. Sometimes a secondary road is more useful than a highway but I haven't found a way to let the GPS know this. Also I would have liked to be able to choose a route beforehand on computer mapping software and then upload it to the GPS like I can with my Magellan but this does not work this way. Overall, I rate this rather high because for the general driving population, this GPS will more than satisfy. But for those of us like me who like more hands-on personalization it doesn't satisfy well. So, my wife will use it and I'll use it occasionally and we will be pleased."

"It's great. I travel alot at work and get sent to different areas which I am not that familiar with or don't know at all, so it is very practical for that reason alone. It also gives traffic advisories, allowing me to decide if I should seek an alternate route due to congestion. Finally, my old GPS was big and bulky, the nuvi775T fits in my pocket and has come in handy when I am away from home."

Didn't happen every time, but if it did, I had to turn it off and on to get my sound back. 3. Touch screen could not be calibrated. It sometimes were way off, making it a frustrating effort to type an address or telephone number in. 4. Keys were stickey, causing you to press it two or three times, and then you have to erase it all again.
When I returned the first one, I thought I'll give it a second chance and bought another one. Unfortunately it has the same problems #2, 3 and 4 above. So, it's going back and my research will start over. Pity - this thing has all the features I want and like."

"The unit recalculates quickly while moving, displays time delays due to heavy traffic ahead, shows street names as you are approching intersections. Lots of great features. One disappointing thing is that I expected freeway signs and large indicators for lanes on freeways. This has not been the case. Although indicators are shown for number of lanes and which lanes you should be in, it is only arrows on the upper left corner of the screen. Does not look at all like advertised when displaying freeway lanes on the demo. Other than that, it is a great product. Glad I purchased it for an upcoming trip since it should make driving in foreign countries and unfamiliar cities less stressful."
