"We needed a (bed) room AC to suppliment our new house's central AC/Heating unit. Consumer Reports said this model GE was the best in its class - 8,000 BTU. The unit (GE ASM08LK) works fine and we are very happy with it. "

"Air conditioner used in an insulated pool house (240sq ft.) Works great. Hard to install since it is made to install in a window with a sill on the outside to support unit. Made a few modifications to the window and unit to get it to fit. "

Way too noisy!
"My wife and I are very dissapointed in this unit, it's supposed to replace a Consumer's reports top rated model and we find it to be almost earth shaking when the condenser kicks in. We can't sleep with it on in the room... DON'T BUY ONE!

GE 8K Air Conditioner flops
"Loudest AC unit I have every heard! Also, the thermostat doesn't work properly, unit keeps cycling off and on too fast without cooling the room. Sounds like a freight train hitting a house when the compressor turns on. Impossible to sleep with this thing. "
