"I live in an apartment complex and hate to wait in line on the weekends and am not of big fan of laudromats either. Quite often I want to wash a smaller load of towels or colors/separates that I can't combine with my regular loads, so I figure after reading all the wonderful reviews, a small portable washer would be awesome. I guess that was a mistake. THIS MACHINE CANNOT HANDLE "HIGH" LOADS! I've even tried it ..." Read Full Review
"I read many reviews about this machine before buying it. So I was prepared for some of the more stressful cons that people had listed previously in reviews. Here are a few things that may help you enjoy this product from the get go and prevent user error in setting up.
1- Haier has made the instruction manual user friendly so the problems that people had previously warned about was pretty much a moot point. If you can read and follow instructions, you'll be washing in no time.
2- Face plate is marked clearly on which way it is installed. There is no way to confuse which way it goes anymore. Unless, you can't read and follow directions. I do suggest screwing in the screws a little bit first to place the plate. Then tightening them later because it offers you more wiggle room to place correctly. Kind of like when you change a tire on a car.
3- use very little detergent. With tide making the 2X concentrated liquid detergent, I use a Teaspoon per large heavy load. This is plenty to get clothes clean. Any more and your clothes will have a ceratain crispy feeling to them when you air dry from using too much soap.
4- Use a HE detergent. They are better then just regular liquid detergents because they disolve well in cold water. I do not recommend at any time using powdered detergent. It leaves a residue on your clothing and you will have to rewash. Especially with a dhark load.
5- when you hook up the machine, Use teflon tape around all of the threaded connections to provide better protection from leaks. No matter what portable washer or portable dishwasher you get this is very important.
6- Machine drains out just fine with the drain hose being disconnected. I did it and there is no problem You just need to make sure that the end of the hose is placed higher then the bottom of the machine.
7- when you disconnect the water hose from the sink, be sure to shut off the water source at the sink, set the machine up to run, when the machine starts to fill it will absorb any remaining water in the intake hose, press the stop/off button, then remove the hose from the sink. This prevents you from getting sprayed when disconnected the intake.
8- The machine no longer plays jingle bells when done. It has a cute little chime that chirps when its done.
I just cleaned all of the clothes in my closet and.... the load I was doing is now done. :-0
Beats going to the laundrymat and washing your clothes in other people's bacteria laden machines."
"I've had this washer for a little over a year and am still getting super clean clothes. It's still extremely quiet, and I've only had one problem with it, which was user error (silly me). I am about to buy one of Haier's portable dryers. I've had great success with this manufacturer, having owned their camper-sized dishwasher previously.
This thing is better at cleaning my clothes than the previous three large-capacity washers I've owned (major name brands). Who'd have thought? I use it every day, too, so it's gone through at least 400 loads.
Most of the time I use the "quick wash" cycle because that's all that's really needed to clean things. It doesn't hold a lot of clothes but it holds more than you'd expect. I've done my queen sheet sets in it (but it won't do the comforter, sorry)!
It's important to remember to do four things when you unpack this unit:
1. Be sure you take that plastic housing out of the bottom of the machine. It's only there to keep the drum in place during shipping.
2. Before you use it, tighten the hose. This will prevent leaks.
3. Install the drip pan so the tall side is facing the floor. This will prevent noise.
4. Always position the hose so that it drains =above= the washing machine. If you don't, water will drain continuously through the rinse cycle and your load will never finish. If you have those typical rental unit sliding shower doors, the ideal thing to do is pass the hose under the towel rack and close the door against the plastic hook so it drains down the inside of the door and into the tub. This is just the right height. A sink that's at least four inches above the top of the unit works well, too, just be sure you secure the hose with something heavy or it will fall and flood the floor.
I put it on those flat casters so I can move it easily around my room. Works great on linoleum or carpet.
Anyone who has a negative thing to say about this unit either has a lemon (it happens) or has not followed the instructions. Granted, they're not written in the best of English but they're much better than most VCR manuals."
"[...]At first i was put off by the really small SIZE of the Washer,as it at first apeared to small , it appeared like a "Toy to do Barbie Clothes in" , BUT after close inspection ,And attention to the smart Design, I realized The Cabinet was small but the Wash tub, was "bigger than the last Compact Washer I had. The stainless steel tub was a big pluses ( no possibility of Rust stains on clothes), and the really supper strong pulsar agitator, The mooter is very impressive.I live alone to the convince of having this washer in the kitchen , is really convent , [...] I highly recommend it over all other compact washer I've seen, for the price! Oh YEA... it very strong As it spins the clothes almost DRY!!!!!! a VERY BIG PLUS! making drying FASTER AND CHEAPER! just like i like it! You Can't go wrong with little power house.;-)"

Cons:
"Let me just say that I loved this little washer. I'm a single parent, father of an 8 year old boy, and need to do laudry on a regular basis - this definitely beats the apartment machines (and pays for itself within a several months in saved coin).
Here's what I like (a lot):
- Cleans great: I tend to do lots of small loads so this is perfect. No problems with any clothing, sheets and covers for queen size beds but, I live in the desert so, no down comfortors or parkas here (they'll probably fit but I doubt they would clean well).
- Gentle on clothes: I have a few neighbors who also have this machine. The girls claim this is the machine equivalent of hand washing. There's no center impeller to "thrash" the clothes instead, the water seems to jet in from the sides. All the tub is available for cleaning which allows it to accomodate larger items (and more clothing) than you'd expect for a machine this size.
- Clothes come out almost completely dry. Since the air here is dry all the time, I just hang the clothes and they're ready to wear in a 20 to 30 minutes.
- No leaks, easy to hook up, easy to stow when not in use (and light enough to move). The quick release makes it a breeze to detach from the sink and the hoses have sufficient length to attach the water inlet to the sink and the outlet to the tub.
Here's what I didn't like:
- Quality control definitely lacking in this manufacturing plant. There is a plate you will need to attach to the bottom of the machine with 4 screws but my unit had the screw holes covered with the corner plates that had been welded over them.
- The motor in my unit had not been properly attached so, as it move out of alignment it began to make a very loud grinding sound.
- Clothes sometimes come out all "twisted" around each other. Not a big deal for me but might add some wrinkles that others may object to. Washing smaller loads seems to resolve this issue.
Helpful hints:
- Do not detach the drain hose from the side of the unit (refer to the picture on the website, the hose on the left runs up the side and is attached with a plastic tie). If you do, the water will siphon out and the machine will never fill.
- Attach the base plate with the "bulge" facing down toward the floor. The phone support guy said they're going to start adding labels to remind you of this but if you don't, expect to hear a loud grinding sound when the unit runs (easy enough to fix, just flip it over and re-attach).
- If you have problems, call the Haier support line for help. I got through after just a minute or two and, although their advice was to return it, I felt like they would have been able to resolve simple issues.
[...]
I would confidently recommend this unit for single/coupled apartment dwellers [...]"
"I have owned this washer since 2007. Never had an issue with it. I do about three loads per week. Due to limited capacity sometimes I do more. Bought the smaller version in 2003 gave it away to a friend because I wanted to get the bigger capacity one in 2007 and when this one beats the dust I will get the yet larger one.
Spin cycle is a bit loud, but overall great for a small NYC apartment."
Pros:
"I love this thing, I live in downtown nyc where the amenities are scarse...
Ive had it for over a month now. I know this may seem crazy but I dont think I even need the dryer yet. I just put a towel on my radiator and then the cloths on top and it dries them perfectly in like 30 mins. It really beats carrying the cloths down 3 flights of stairs and down the street to the laundrymat. I would totally say if you have a prewar apartment in NYC like I do...you need this! I may get the dryer as well....but not until the heat goes off.
It does shake a little bit but only for towels, regular cloths its very quiet. Im not supposed to have a washer at all in my apartment but it is so small no one will ever know."
Pros:
Cons:
"I am over 50 yrs. old and live alone in an upstairs apartment. I was tired of lugging baskets of clothes up and down the stairs...plus, it was costing me about $25 every month for coin-op machines. The estimated delivery date was two weeks away but this washer arrived just two days after I ordered it. The instruction manual was very clear and assembly was easy as pie. My first load of clothes were wash clothes and towels. The machine wasn't any noisier than a dishwasher and it didn't walk across the floor...staying right in place during the entire wash, spin and rinse cycles. The items were clean and fresh...and I hung them on a drying rack to dry. I think I will find a way to put a clothes line on my balcony so they can dry in the fresh air. The machine is a little heavy but I imagine that casters would cause it to walk during operation. Perhaps a huge house plant holder with casters would work to move it from the closet to the sink...maybe I will give that a try. All in all, I think this is a wonderful appliance and I am happy that I made the purchase."
"This is a great little washer with all of the features of a standard size washer. How great is it to have this washer at the ready any time I need it. With 3 water levels and numermous settings, it's just the best.
I've had mine for more than a year, and use it at least 5-6 times a week, and couldn't be more satisfied..."
Pros:
"I had it shipped from NY to NorCAL, and it's worked well for the past week. I'd read just as many horrible things about this product as good things on Amazon reviews, but noted that the poorly reviewed item was 1) no longer available, and 2) another listing of this item on Amazon is actually available for purchase. Which is to say, I think this item used to be manufactured with cheap connectors and a plastic tub and ill-labeled assembly items, but now everything is steel (tub), secure (nothing arrived broken or has broken), and clearly labeled for assembly. Plus, it's really truly actually *functional* -- It's worked well this past week, it was easy to set up, and I'm very happy with it. This was definitely a worthwhile investment for a person with a full-time office job yet also trains athletically three times weekly -- I used to be unable to get to the laundromat for a week at a time if it rained several mornings (or looked like it might). No more laundromat! Laundry whenever I want to do it! Super fabulous. The product works -- It's really worth it."
