"Pros
Incredibly easy to set up and no PC expertise...just screw it in. Signal strength of my network increased exponentially.
Cons
Pricey...but worth the time it saves.
Additional Thoughts
The router that came with my FIOS service is generally good, but is lacking in signal strength. After several hours trying to configure a Linksys repeater, I returned it and went for this device. The hardest part of getting this to work was taking itout of the box. :) The bottom line is that my signal went from poor in many sections of my two-story house to excellent everywhere. It even works quite well in the basement...when my router is on the top floor.
No question that it is very pricey. But when you consider the time saved in setup, and the fact that you can always move it to another router without configuration hassles, it is worh every penny!"
"We live in a large stucco home and have many known dead areas that affect wireless home phones, cellphones, and of course the 802.11g wireless LAN we have. We used the HAI15SC corner antenna just to get a signal to the main section of the house.
We now have the HSB2 with the HAI15SC corner antenna, and we can successfully access my wireless connection from five houses away on the 500mW setting. Without the HSB2 I couldn't remain connected to the network at times from the master bedroom nor a rear porch using the HAI15SC corner antenna alone!! Even the techies that set up my system only offered $250-$300 one watt signal boosters, instead of this $80 half watt booster. WELL worth the money if you need range or better building penetration of your wireless router signal. We only use the 200mW setting with NO issues inside our house."
"If you have 802.11 b/g signal coverage problems, look no further. This device does exactly what it is intended to do...boost the signal. The router wasn't located centrally as is ideal, so I tried this product. My expectations were exceeded by far.
Overall excellent, however, I was left wanting for a longer power cord and antenna lead. Do note that I have questions as to how effective this unit might be with a dual antenna setup. (My client's Dlink had just one antenna). With a 30 day money back guarantee there is nothing to lose. Unit had a feel of quality with substantial weight. I expect it to do the job for years to come."
"I didn't think it was clear from reading theonline description, but I was looking for a booster for my existing wireless router. This product is actually something that hooks to your workstation to increase the receiver power of the workstation wireless card. This won't work well for a laptop unless it is stationary. Pretty much only for a desk PC. I returned this products so really can't comment on performance, except for I know that this gives off a very high pitchednoise when it is powered on. i'm not sure that I could have kept it for that reason as well. Returned without using...Jim"
"Pros
no down loading easy to hook up work great the putor you hook it up to will get great single all other will be ok single
Cons
be sure one putor has a pci card this is a small antennia in the back of putor that you can un screw the atennia"
"I just received this product a few weeks ago and it's been working beautifully. It's currently on the medium signal boost level attached to my dlink di-624 wireless router 100 feet away and through several walls giving a steady connection that rarely drops with full speeds (have up to a 600-900kB download and 90-100kB upload running simultaneously with some leeway to do some web surfing). It would be annoying if you have to sit next to it since it emits a high-pitch whine that's audible from 3-4 feet away, but other than that it's a great product for the cost."
"This product dramatically increases transmit power, however it's duplexing capability is very poor and cannot hear portable units trying to log in. At full output into a 14dbi gain antenna, I could get a strong signal 500' away even through buildings.. but, I could not log on while I was 50' in front of it line-of-sight.. It was only at its lowest 100mw setting that I could get just a poor connection.. I had much better results using the high gain antenna w/o the amp. Please don't buy this. Get a good high end antenna. -Eddie"
"I have used several of these signal boosters with great results each time. In various business settings it has boosted the signal strength by 300% at a minimum. In a couple of external applications with an omni-directional 15db antennae I am getting a great signal at 3000' away (clear line of sight). It is well worth the price and is solidly built. Documentation is well written, and I've had no problems with any of the Hawking products that I have used in the past!"
"I recently purchased this at the beginning of October 2010. Attached to my FIOS M125 router as an extender it works great by extending the signal from corner room where the home office is across the house. It has a high pitched 6,000 dba sound so it should be mounted up high above ear level. I keep it on the second 200 MW setting and that is sufficient to cover a 2500 SF home. So, so far so good."
