"For the second go-over, I pre-heated one-half of the water to almost the boiling point and got much better results than with just the hot tap water alone the first time. Another draw-back is, that just picking up clean water did NOT work for cleaning the nozzle, too much debris was left in the crevices. I HAD to remove the clear nozzle cover and clean the residue from the nozzle. Otherwise, this unit did a much ..." Read Full Review
"I love this steamer. It is fantastic. It cleans the carpet great. Plus leaves the floor almost dry. It is easy to take a part and clean. Seperate tanks for the clean water and dirty water. The water is heated. It is just great. I had horrible dirty spots from shoes, pets and child and they had been there for a long time and they are gone. Also cleans furniture great. I had a Bissel Proheat. You know the $250 one and it didn't work nearly as well as the Hoover. Nor have the features."

"We moved into a house with carpets, so I wanted to get this carpet cleaner. Since they are new carets (no stains yet), I used it on the area rug first. Before we moved we rent a cleaner to clean that rug, and I went ahead and cleaned it again with this cleaner. WOW, it sure cleaned it good, much better than the rented one. I have since used this cleaner on the high trafic areas on our new rugs, and it does a great job. The machine is easy to use.[...]"
Pros:
"I bought this machine about a week ago and have been using it non-stop. I have cleaned my carpets and every piece of furniture possible. I was ashamed at how much dirt that it sucked out of my beige microfiber couch. It is very easy to use and cleans very well. The only issue I've had is that the cleaning solution foams up when being sucked back out of the carpet and makes the dirty water tank fill up faster than the clean water tank is being drained, (even when using the Hoover brand cleaners). It just means a few more trips to the sink, which is a small price to pay for such a nice machine. You do have to make a few passes across the carpet to get all of the water up, but then the carpet dries very fast."
"I used to borrow my mother-in-law's, but I just got my own. This cleaner rocks! I have some ground-in pet stains and this always gets them out. I don't use the Hoover carpet shampoo, I just use Oxi-Clean + water to pretreat, and then use really hot water in the machine. It's easy to assemble, easy to maintain, and takes up no more room than a regular vacuum cleaner. I can't imagine paying someone to come in and clean my carpets ever again--this machine does a way better job than they could ever do!!"
"I used this on the one room where we have carpet. We spend a lot of time in there as do our two cats and two dogs. In the past I have rented a big unit from the grocery store. I was tired of hauling that around and paying each time so I thought I would try this out [...]. Other reviewers mentioned that they did not like having to stop to empty the dirty water, which concerned me a bit as I find this very annoying with the one I rent. This was SO MUCH BETTER. I only had to empty it two times, as opposed to three or four times with the rental. It used much less water to do the same job. And, since the dirty water container is so much smaller than that on the rental, I could do it easily in my kitchen sink instead of the bathtub like usual (easier to clean the sink after, then the bathtub). I did notice a few days later that there is some streaking on the carpet. But since I OWN this, I can easily run it again to get the rest of the dirt that remained (the carpet is seriously old and I was in a huge hurry on Thanksgiving-Eve). I am guessing that the hotter you can get the water (safely), the more effective it will be.I can tell that it is important to clean the unit very well after use to get any solid debris out of the hoses and other areas. If not, it would cause issues down the road. It was easy to do by simply running the unit on tile using clean water for a few minutes. Vacuuming the carpet first is also a must. I have not cleaned any other areas yet; I mostly have hardwood floors (don't use on that). I do plan to hit the few tile areas as soon as I go buy the appropriate cleaner. I highly recommend the unit... and I usually do not do reviews but was so happy with it that I came back to do so."

Another draw-back is, that just picking up clean water did NOT work for cleaning the nozzle, too much debris was left in the crevices. I HAD to remove the clear nozzle cover and clean the residue from the nozzle.
Otherwise, this unit did a much better job cleaning and drying than the Bissell, which it replaced."
"I purchased this product based on reviews from [a parents website]. I ordered it(not avaible at the store), recieved it, and finally used it today.
I have never been so satisfied with a product in my recollection.
It raised four month old "P" stains froim my Husky with a urinary tract infection in April. My carpet is beige; it was black in some places, it is now beige again.
It is labor intensive to assemble and clean, but it is worth it!

"The day it got to my house I used it and it was great. It's just when you install it you have to put the handle in the right position or the water will start leaking. It cleans very well and after it's done it make your carpet look like you just bought it."
