HP Photosmart A646 Compact Photo Printer

"I saw this printer on tv and fell in love with it immediately! Shipping was fast and so was the initial setup. I was printing pictures liteally in 15 minutes!! It is a great product and I would highly recommend it. The picture quality is great and adding borders and print is a bonus!"

"I use this product to print pictures for friends when I need an extra copy in a pinch! The pictures come out looking like they came out of a photo shop!



It is handy to carry around (I love the padded case made from recycled plastic!) It is a great way to make a postcard for an occasion or for a framed photo for a relative or friend. I love all the extra framing features as well as the tools for reducing red-eye and cropping, etc.



My only complaint is that it uses ink fast (and comes with a starter cartridge that only makes about 5 pictures!) However, it is an inkjet printer so that should be expected (one full cartridge produces about 55 4 x6 inch prints.) I also wish it came with the USB cord which I had to order online. Otherwise, it is a great buy if you aren't using it to print lots of pictures every day. Use new HP ink...refilled and refurbished cartridges will affect the HP warranty and the quality of your photos. For best quality and fast ink drying time, be sure to use good quality HP photo paper.



I am considering buying one for my daughter this Christmas for her scrap booking needs. I am very happy with the quality of my photographs and the fact that I can use an XD or an SD card or plug in my camera to it. An easy printer to operate and use! It has a one year warranty as well and if taken care of, should last a long time. Enjoy!"

"This printer produces great quality photo prints. I have a new 4 week old granddaughter and I have been taking a lot of photos. When I go to visit, I take my camera and this printer. Not only does it do 4x6 prints, it also does 5x7 and panorama prints. To change from one size to another print, just change the paper. The personalizing functions are the best, from frames to free hand drawing."

"This printer has been a great tool for me. Most recently, I organized our toy cabinets by taking a photo of the contents of each container on the shelves and placing the photo and a label on the side of each bucket. The print quality is great, it takes 90 seconds or less for the photo to print, it's relatively quiet and it's virtually smudge-proof when it comes out (which is great when my two-year old has no patience and wants to see the image immediately). I had reservations about the price of the item and was really worried when my first photos didn't print well at all, but after taking a chance and opening a brand new ink cartridge I realized that my factory-included ink cartridge was just not working. The photos have been great ever since. I wouldn't print EVERY photo off my memory card with it because I think it's still cheaper to take the card to another site/store and print mass quantities elsewhere. But, to take to grandma's and leave behind a special photo memory that she absolutely loves, this has been ideal for us."

"I wanted something my father could use. Dad doesn't have a computer and isn't interested in using something complicated. I was so very pleased I could download just the section of the manual that pertained to using the printer without a pc and it gave all the directions we needed. My dad was so pleased with the bright 4 by 6 prints. The only thing I saw that had me rate this a 4 instead of 5 was that the color tone was a little more blue than nornmal, but still the prints are bright and Dad thinks wonderful. Also, the printer is nice and small for Dad to keep in his family room and the editing options not too complicated to use. "I plan to use this printer for a "Fun Fair" that I run for children in DCF care. Previously the children would dress up in costumes and then be photographed with a polaroid camera so that they could have instant pictures of themselves. I was never really thrilled with the quality of the instamatic picture but it seemed the only affordable option. Once polaroid stopped making the film I was forced to search for a new alternative. My dad Maish and I did extensive research about stand alone photo printers. We found the A646 printer and decided to take a chance on it. It was the best investment I could have made. I became quite comfortable with it after about 1/2 an hour. I LOVE IT !! And that it is so light and portable and came with a great carrying case is a bigh plus. "I bought this great little portable printer for my boyfriend's birthday. It is small, easy to use, easy to carry and prints very good photos. Setup was a breeze and the carrying case is a definite advantage. The only con would be the price of the ink cartridges. The supplies for this printer (paper asnd ink) could get very expensive if you plan to print a lot of pictures. A major pro is that you can go to a party or event with your camera and this printer and print photos right there on the spot. Who wouldn't love that?"

"This is a well constructed, easy to use photo printer and its small size makes it very portable. Although I am very pleased with the item, the printed instructions are poor to say the least. It took me several minutes to figure out how to close the viewing screen as even that was not covered. Like most HP products, their ink cartridges are costly but you can buy other cartridges for the unit. [...]"

"I purchased the printer to aid in my scrapbooking. I was going on a vacation that offered nothing to do but relax and was out of the way to go get photos printed. This printer was perfect for what I needed it for, to print "SELECT" photos. As with most printers ink is expensive, therefore I wouldn't print all my photos with the machine.

I really like the PHOTO LAYOUT option, printing 1, 2, 4 or thumbprint on one sheet. If you don't like borders you will need to trim the photos.(when printing 2 or more photos on a sheet)

The machine is VERY EASY to use. Offers two sizes 4x6 and 5x7.

Looking forward to taking it on our next vacation because it is nice and compact. The clip art and caption options were a nice bonus for me. It's given me more than I was looking for in a printer."
