"Used in my den to assist with new addition. It cools the room but the air is not cold. Do not like having to drain water. However, did read about dehumidifying mode which suppose to eliminate this. I like the size and the look is really nice. It will save me a lot of money instead of having to get a completly new unit. Just wished it was a little quieter but it is much better than the first one I got which was r..." Read Full Review

"I use this product to cool a 10'-14' room. However, 12,000 BTU's is not quite enough to really cool the entire room because I have a connecting room and there is no door to close to trap the air. The unit is compact and mobile, however, you are restricted to rooms with windows as a window exhaust is necessary. The window exhaust hose stretches (accordion-style hose that stretches to about 5ft.) but should not be bent in awkward positions. You're window should be at least 36" wide for the window kit to properly fit. There was no battery included in the remote control. The remote control requires a button cell battery. Also, there is no remote control holder on the unit, which would have been a nice feature.I must warn that this unit is very noisy. So watching TV will be challenging. I read other reviews about the noise but thought it would be okay. Well, believe it. It's noisy! It's a nice looking unit about the size of a small filing cabinet but a little smaller. Overall, for the price, I would recommend this product for a very small room where you can close the door to trap the cool air. If you have a connecting room with no door, like me, then 12,000 BTU's will not be sufficient. [...]"

"Great little unit. It does a great job of cooling the room, although its a tad more noisy than I expected. Installation was a breeze and it seems far more efficient than traditional window/wall units. I may never turn on the big central A/C again. Since I use it primarily in the office/computer room at home, there was always a hot pocket in there. No zone control on the main A/C, but this unit solved that problem. The 3 year old 5000 BTU window unit that this box replaces also seems to take more power and put out less air flow. I haven't tested the heat mode, that will have to wait until winter. But its always good to have a back up system."
Pros:
"I use this product in our bedroom. We have a two story house with no central a/c so it can get pretty hot inside, especially upstairs. The EdgeStar keeps the bedroom cool for us. Like most portable units when the compressor runs it's a bit loud but you get use to it, better than sweating in your own home. Strong, powerful fan blows the cool air quite a distance for its size. The EdgeStar sits a bit lower than some other portable a/c., more compact size. Does a good job a keeping the room cool, but does take a little while for the room to cool off. I would recommend this item to anyone looking to stay cooler in these hot summer days ahead."

Cons:
"Bought to use in my patio screened room. This room has Bronze tinted vinyl window shades that can be pulled down to shade the room which left the room to hot (with shades down no air would come through the screens) to use during peak hours of the day. This unit cools the room nicely for a few people but with a group of people (6 or more) I used a fan to help circulate the air. I used the vent kit that was sent & just pulled the vinyl window shade down to hold in place. On very humid weeks did have to drain the water but not as often as I thought I would have to. Good product would recommend. Would not be able to use my patio room in the afternoons without it!"

Cons:
"The unit is used in about 450 square foot area and cools wonderfully. The price was amazing for the quality. I won't know about the energy efficiency until my next power bill comes. I'm not sure it shows the accurate temperature on the display, because it feels a lot cooler than what the display reads. I don't have a thermometer in the room to make a comparison. If you buy this, you may want to determine what temp to set it on based on what feels good instead of going by numbers. Other than that, I love the unit! Especially since going almost a year without any A/C in that room."

Cons:
"I recently bought this AC for my RV for times when current draw is a concern as it draws less than 9amps vs the 15amp that my rooftop unit does. Helps when staying places without the 30amp power I'd like to have.
The fan is quite noisy, low not being very low, but as would be expected, cools and heats my 30' fifth wheel quite well. My biggest complaint is the vibration/rattles, which I would rate severe. Sitting on my couch near the AC is like sitting in a vibrating chair. On the plus side, no quarters required, just the remote."
Cons:
"I regret buying this piece of junk. It is too heavy. The worst thing is that it is the noisiest thing. I live in a studio apartment upstair of someone's house. When I turn this AC on, it shakes up the whole house and the noise is intolerable. It's like one of the heavy duty washing machine! Since I bought this online, I don't want to pay shipping to return this thing. So I bought an exercise mat and placed it under the AC. This absorbs most of the shock but I can still feel the shaking of the floor. When I keep this on at night, I have to wear earplug in order to sleep! This is the worst choice I made. I truly regret buying this junk."
Cons:
"I have reviewed it for its cooling capabilities, and am very pleased with that mode of operation. Now that the cooler weather set in at night, I could evaluate its heating capabilities. Its perfect for those in between days when you want to take the chill off in the morning. Very nice heat output and it raised the room temp from 68 to 72 in under 20 minutes. Since I live in the Chicago area, it might not be too practical for those -20 degree days for full time heating, though, without additional material on the window openings to cut down on the amount of cold air brought in due to the negative air flow inherent with a single hose system."
Pros:
"Edge star customer service was very rude. Our machine was making clicking noises when we recived it and he basically called us a liar. He said we could send it back to them on monday if it was still making noises, but basically said they would send it back to us. The machine is really loud when in operation. I guess I just expected more for a [$] machine. Other then that it heats and cools pretty well, although the temp. controls are somewhat off."
