"This is a generic version of the Ionic Breeze, which is the original. I had one of those before, but eventually the electronics on that one stopped working. It collected some dust from the air with hollow fins in the collector grid.
The Ionic PRO uses solid fins which attract very little dust (probably something to do with surface charge). The exterior is larger than the Ionic Breeze, but inside, it is the same size. Being a knock off, it is cheaper, but seeing as it hardly works, it isn't much of a bargain.
They try to protect the contacts at the bottom of the grid by forcing you to lie the whole unit on its side whenever you insert the grid, which is quite annoying (the Ionic Breeze does not require this). It's not as if I would just drop it in anyway.
The main allure of the ionic type air cleaners is that they are supposed to be totally silent. This was true of the Ionic Breeze I had, until enough dust collected in it, then it would occasionally tic or hiss (but I almost always cleaned it out every couple of weeks, before it got that dirty). The Ionic PRO is LOUD! It starts silent, but will begin sizzling and buzzing with almost no dirt in it! Sometimes it's even louder after you clean it. I've gone through and painstakingly wiped the grid down to a chrome shine, the vertical wires are clean, and I wiped the dust off each of the exterior plastic fins in its grill. The sizzling is obnoxious and it goes off and on about once a minute. I have followed the directions to a tee and still it sizzles. In fact, in the two years I've owned it, the sizzling has only gotten worse. A loud industrial HEPA filter with fan is less obnoxious (at least it doesn't cycle on and off).
Save yourself some money and avoid this cheap knock off. Go with a HEPA filter or an Ionic Breeze with the built in fans so it can actually move some air (these things take forever to circulate the air in a room)."

"We have 2 cats and normally you know we have animals when you walk into our apartment. We bought 2 of these with a nice buy one get one 50% off deal and have loved them since! You can't smell the cats and we notice less dust as well! We have 2 litter boxes in our living room with one of the Ionics and you can't tell that they are there. It works wonders!"
Pros:
"Have been using Ionic Pro in my BR (and small one in my living room)for about 3 yrs. Red lite glows when unit needs cleaning. Easy to wipe metal plates with wipes, so fast and easy to lay on its side to insert the one piece grid back in. I used a noisy Hepa Filter for years until I found this product on sale at Staples. The Hepa Filter put out a very cold air, I'll keep it for warm summer days. This unit refreshes quietly and without cold air. The hissing is the dust collecting, noticable only for few days if you haven't run unit for a week or so or havent dusted. But it is a suttle sound. I put mine at the opposite end of my large bedroom and I still benefit, breathing much easier while sleeping."
Pros:
"I have ionic pros in almost every room of my home. They are silent and do a great job. One went on the fritz after a little over a year and I was disappointed at that but the others are all still going strong. these are the best in my opinion."

Cons:
"This is by far the best air purifier I've owned. It is absolutely quiet yet extremely effective in trapping odors and smoke. I smoke in the house and that was the purpose for buying it. Non-smokers who visit don't smell smoke at all. Plus, the attractive design is perfect for placing it in the living room."
Pros:
"We used to have winter colds and coughs almost every winter that lasted for months. After using the Ionic Pro, the colds and coughs disappeared. Moved and didn't use them for a season and the colds and coughs reappeared. The Ionic Pro also appears to filter dust and odors better than the powered air filters with Hepa filters. Yes, you do have to clean the blades when you start to hear the crackle when the dust causes electrical arcing across the blades."
Pros:
"This machine has cut the dust buildup in my livingroom so much that it is beyond noticeable. One day I would dust and within 24 hrs it would look like I never did. Now I'm down to 1 a week--if that. Don't care to be cleaning the collector blades but small price for the dust it collects.Follow the instructions. You take good care of it, it takes good care of you."
Pros:
Cons:
"My housemate he has smoke so frequetly. And I am can't take it anymore. Until my family recommend me to purchase Ionic Pro for air purifier.
I found that after I used it, the result is awesome. The quality, price and the outcomes are out of my expectation. I will recommend to others since this is an awesome product."
Pros:
"Warranty is One Year...Mine lasted about 2 Years and suddenly quir for NO apparent reason.Cleaned and maintained EXACTLY per instructions, even though Red Light (to advise time to clean) NEVER came on.Repairs require purchase of 2 Year 'Extended Warranty', then ship unit back. [...])Not counting time and trouble. ."
