"I have a theater room and my equipment is hidden in a closet. I found this at best buy, and gave it a try. NOW YES, THE reviewers here are correct the IR range is terrible no more than 5 feet away from the remote to work, HOWEVER THIS CAN BE FIXED EASILY!...You must open up the IR Transmitter unit carefully (DONT OPEN THE IR RECEIVER THERE IS NO NEED TO). All You Have To Do Is Take It Apart

"It works to deliver the signal as long as the remote control is 1" from the receiver. I took the receiver apart, cut the foil, that helped, but not great. Then I noticed the little receiver thing was tucked inside the metal box too far, so I pried it up. Ok now it works ok, but as soon as I put the plastic back on, nothing. So now I have a circuit board with an antenna laying there, and the range works ok. ..." Read Full Review »

"I thought at first batteries in remote were bad. Put a fresh set in and still only got around 5 ft. in plain view of transmitter and receiver. Read "improve" post below and modified.
