"We purchased this dishwasher after much research and spent a fair amount of money on it. Now, less than 3 years later, it has completely stopped working. As time went on, the dishwasher kept getting louder and louder. I finally got to the point where I would only run it when I was leaving the house. Then water stopped entering the tub and it's completely unusable. What a complete waste of money. On top of ..." Read Full Review

"First I would like to say that shopping for a dishwasher in my price range was a big headache. I checked this site and also paid to join a Consumer site, and read the reviews on many difference web sites and ended up being totally confused. Some brands were highly rated by Consumer Agency testing, only for me to read owners had problems, and vice versa
Anyway, decision day I decided to buy one in my price range and had what I wanted, such as touch buttons, etc.
I bought this at Sears in Canada - Tall Tub version. It was $499.99 plus 115.99 taxes, $65.00 for delivery and $115.99 for three year extended warranty.
I used to own an expensive dishwash - this does very similar job.
I felt confident buying it at Sears because they are pretty good at service in this smaller town.
I dont think we should wash our dishes off before putting them in dishwasher and I didnt used to with my previous dishwasher, but now my family is only two - I give a very fast rinse off under cold sink tap - doesn't matter if a bit of gravy etc. left on.... and then, I can use the FAST WASH cycle. IT ONLY TAKES 30 MINUTES. I half fill one detergent cup.
I assure you it cleans plates, mugs, glasses, cutlery if slightly rinsed off. Worth it to me, otherwise the cycle is two hours.
We also have a well and a septic system, so not a good idea to leave too much food on dishes as it can clog up your drainage pipes - in fact, that's why I put off buying a dishwasher for 8 yrs.
Of course, stickier items, pots etc, you would choose another cycle but I prefer to give a quick prewash and only have dishwasher running 1/2 hour - very seldom do I get an item that isn't clean... big deal.
It is not noisy unless you really want to listen to it....
Overall, I am happy with it. I don't use the Turbo Jet cycle etc., as hate wasting all that hot water :-)
Would recommend. But, if large family ... maybe use the other features or buy more expensive dishwash.
Hope this helps and thanks to STEPHEN AUYEUNG of Buzzillions who actualy answered my emails about my confusion in selection - you were a great help, Thank you!

"Before I complete my review you need to know that my comparison is limited, as I am comparing this Kenmore dishwasher to a dishwasher that I know is/was 13 years old and most likely was the original dishwasher in this house and therefore could very well be over 20 yr old. The installer did call it a 'classic'. So over the years technology has changed and we could very well expect that 'any' new dishwasher I would have purchased would have been an improvement.
I have used this dishwasher for less than 3 weeks and I am very impressed with how well it cleans the dishes. I do not need to rinse the dishes prior to loading the dishwasher. I can let the dishes sit for a few days before I turn on the dishwasher and they still come out squeaky clean. I thought the turbo-charge might have been a waste of money, but I find it to be most beneficial and am thrilled I have this option.
It is quiet, and the little tricks like having lids on the silverware holders so you can place small items in an area without having them fall out and land in the bottom of your dishwasher - it's great. It looks good and once I used the polish on the stainless steel it is easy to keep clean and doesn't show the finger prints. It has multiple spraying units to clean thoroughly on both the upper and lower racks.
The one thing I am adjusting to is I really don't like the layout for the glassware, I prefer my 'classic' dishwasher's layout. The other thing is the interior door is a soft plastic and I just don't feel the machine is as solid as my older dishwasher but for the price this is a great machine. I also would not expect this machine or any other dishwasher for that matter to last for 15-20 years as my 'classic' dishwasher did."
"I waited a year to write a review on this dishwasher, as I wanted to write a honest and reliably realistic opinion.
The wash cycles get my dishes spotlessly clean, regardless of the detergent that I use. The Smart Wash feature is a great asset........we like to use this feature when we have had dishes sitting in the dishwasher for a couple of days and it isn't full yet. I have never had one dish that wasn't sparkling clean and I have used all of the cycles.
The stainless steel finish is easily maintained and smudge free with the product that was supplied with the delivery. I find this product helps prevent finger prints and can be purchased at my Sears store.
The only problem that we have had with this dishwasher was in our initial use. The basket was catching on the positioning rack levers and popped the device off that keeps it in place. We had a repairman come out, and he determined that the basket was probably out of alignment. A new basket was ordered, and the problem was solved.
The only feature that I wish this dishwasher had is the hidden controls (just for looks), otherwise my husband and I are quite happy with this dishwasher."
"I purchased this dishwasher to replace a 12 yr old model. This dishwasher performs very well with loose food items left on plates. We gently rinse before loading. Cheese or stuck on foods will remain on dishes after any wash cycle (I have used them all). Pots and pan cycle gets used the least. I have also used the turbo zone for greasy bakeware, comes out sparkling (crusty baked on food does not clean well). The fast wash cycle does not heat dry but that is rarely used as well. But overall, am very happy with the appearance and performance and it could be a little quieter but it is not so loud compared to the model we replaced. The racks are adjustable in height and configuration of the tines too. I have put numerouse baking sheets in for cleaning. I did not get the stainless steel inside because of the racks. This model is more flexible with the tines and stemware holders. So far the plastic pieces that hold the tines up have fared well (dw is almost 9 months old). I would recommend this model for this price range. It seems to be economical and well worth the money we spent. Overall, we are happy with our purchase."

As time went on, the dishwasher kept getting louder and louder. I finally got to the point where I would only run it when I was leaving the house. Then water stopped entering the tub and it's completely unusable. What a complete waste of money. On top of that, my husband and I were never really thrilled with the way the machine cleaned our dishes. Left residue on our glasses even with rinse aid and switch from liquid to powder detergent. Didn't matter if it was a $20 set of glasses from ****** or a $20 glass from Williams Sonoma - same residue that I can't get off.
With the price of dishwashers, we're not even sure if it's worth it to get a repairman out!
Make sure you look at reviews from long-term reviewers. My mistake was just using ****************, who can't really track longevity."
"I should have known when it was deeply discounted to stay away. Then, after the first one only lasted 4 washes, should have just said "no". But, stuck with it.......wish I had not. I replaced it after my very old dishwasher wasn't washing so well anymore (it had in the past). While this one is much quieter......well, the dishes aren't much cleaner, the Turbo did NOT do any better, and the racks, though bigger, are so poorly designed that there is less room to place dishes. Also, the extra knife holder on the bottom rack IS a good idea except that it dislodges EVERY time that I push in the rack. On the first one they sent me, this was NOT a problem. Since I have to completely take up my wood planking everytime I have it replaced, I am just going to suck it up but I encourage others to buy something else."
"Good workhorse of a dishwasher. Runs very quietly and does a good job with all types of dishes as long as it is not overloaded. The rack for silverware is a great feature as it separates items resulting in uniformly clean silverware. The adjustable top shelf is really useful for oversized glasses and objects generally that need to be on the top rack.
While this model is a little more expensive than some, the added features are worth the extra especially when the dishwasher is typically run full and with a mixture of cooking utensils and dishes.

"I have owned the unit for a little over a year.
Overall, it performs pretty solidly as far as washing is concerned-the smart wash button tends to work better than the other settings.
I am a little concerned about how this is going to hold up however; just after it ended the one year warranty period the receptacle that holds the liquid rinse aid started to leak around the rectangular housing, so that the rinse aid is gone in a couple of days. Suspect this is a manufacturing defect with the seal not holding up so well with repeated use."
"I focused on this model because of the write up in ****************. I then compared feature for feature, cost for cost on other makes and models. I also read every review posted on this web site. Cleans very good and is extremly quiet. I still cannot believe the size of the interior compared to my old Kenmore DW, not to mention (again) how quiet it is. The exterior size is the same but the interior is huge. My only complaint is my old Kenmore did'nt die sooner! (worked well for 20 years with no service) What a dream machine."
