"A friend recommended A & D Diaper Rash Ointment to me and I really would recommend it to other people. My little one was just starting to get a little bit of diaper rash so I immediately applied some of the A & D Diaper Rash Ointment and the diaper rash was gone overnight! The only downside is that it does have a strong medicinal odor. Note: This reviewer may have received a benefit, like a sweepstakes entry o..." Read Full Review

"We use both A&D and Desitin. Yesterday I used this on my daughter who had a mild diaper rash and the second I put it on her, she screamed like she was in pain, it was a cry I had never heard before. I quickly wiped it off her and she seemed fine. Not sure if this is the case with all babies, but we are sticking to Desitin and throwing this in the trash...." Read Full Review
"I found that any cream containing zinc oxide stings when my babies' bums are the slightest bit red or irritated (try putting a little zinc oxide anywhere on yourself when you are slightly chaffed and you will feel the bite! ouch!)
But I found that this is great for daily use and protection from wettness. however, when diaper rash breaks out in full force, I recommend putting this on first and THEN a zinc oxide cream over it. This will prevent stinging, but the zinc oxide will help heal the diaper rash better!"
Pros:
"My mom recommended this to me because it is what she used on us. I had seen my sister trying to combat her sons diaper rashes with a zinc based cream and it seemed to take forever to get rid of a simple rash. I used it on my son from the beginning and was supprised when my pediatrician even said that that is the only ointment she recommends. My sons rashes, not only on his bottom but from drool and other skin irritations all over his body, would clear up in a matter of hours or over night, not days, with this ointment. When my brother in law saw how effective it was on my son he insisted that they use it on their children. I even use it on myself when I have patches of dry skin from wind burn or other irritations for an over night treatment. It's a great product."

Cons:
"Throw out any other diaper/rash creams you might have. True story from this weekend: my 15-month old son was terribly irritated after a bout of "watery stool" to the point of crying in pain by the 7th time I had to change his pamper that day. The first thing I grabbed was one of those zinc oxide creams - poor thing screamed his head off like I've never seen him before. I ran to the sink, washed him up (still crying), finally found the A&D I had in an old diaper bag and applied it gently all over his irritated skin. After a while he calmed down - next time I changed his pamper, he didn't even flinch. By the morning, his skin was completely back to normal. I will never use anything else on my kids."
Pros:
"I'm on Baby #5, and ALWAYS prefer A&D OINTMENT to anything else out there. I don't like Desitin or the Cream version of A&D because all of the Zinc Oxide products are difficult to wipe off of baby's butt - and who wants to scrub a baby's butt if there's a developing rash?
I use it on the butt and inside of butt cheeks every diaper change and have found that it really prevents rashes. When my kids are potty training, I still check the inside - and, when it's a little red, A&D does the trick!"

Cons:
"My MIL used this for all of her children and A+D has worked really well for our own little one as well. Our baby has never had a rash that lasted more than a day, and her bum looks clearer than any of the bums of her playmates whose diapers I have changed. We apply nightly and more often if her skin is looking more pink than usual.
A+D does have a distinct odor but I don't find it offensive at all. It goes on smooth and clear and doesn't leave pasty residue for subsequent diaper changes. We will continue to use this product."
Pros:
"My daughter once had a HORRIBLE rash. She had a reaction to a certian brand of diapers. I tried EVERYTHING. Butt Paste, Destin, Pink Sauve, and others. She got so raw she was getting bloody. I was scared to change her dipear it was so bad. Then while at [...] I asked a pharmicist what i should do. She recommend this product and it cleared up thr bloody rash completly with in 2 days. I say results after the first diper change. This product is amazing and is a must have for any parent. It also has other uses besides for dipear rash. In my home we use this instead of Neospprian as well. It much less inexpensive. Its just an all around wonderful product."
Pros:
"A&D ointment has stood the test of time. My mom used it on me and now I am using it on my daughter. It was reccomended in the hospital and we have used it since then. We have had no diaper rash and it is very good for her skin. It is not irritating and very easy to use. We get the tubes instead of the tub b/c we just squeeze some into the diaper and smush is around before we put it on her. Otherwise, your hands get greasy and you certainly need both hands to change a diaper!"
Pros:
"I have this stuff around all the time because my husband is a tattoo artist. I ran out of diaper cream once and had heard that A&D was a good thing to put on rashes so I tried it and I havent and wont buy anything else for diaper rashes! It also helps keep in moisture on my sons mild exzema on his legs and soothes his dry nose overnight when he has a cold. The uses for it are endless and I recommend this to every parent and parent to be that I know!!"
Pros:
"I use this product for preventing diaper rash but also works great for chapped/dry skin.My hands get so dry with all the hand washing I do, so I rub some of this ointment on the tops of my hands and knuckles and it helps keep them from drying out. Minor scratches-My daughter scratched her face and I put this on her scratch and the redness went away after a few hours. I love the smell of it. I know most find the scent of this ointment bothersome but I really like it."
