"I bought it as a gift for my daughter. It is not as easy to use as my Grarmin but then that might be because I am use to it and I have not read the directions as it is not mine. I think she is enjoying it a lot...." Read Full Review

"I bought Mio C320 and Tomtom one 3rd edition from RadioShack, and C220 from Circuit City.Overall of Mio C320 and C220:Great units! Highly recommended! Maps like FINE ARTS with just adequate roads and texts. Easy to use. I can easily set my new routes while I am driving. Two great and very easy to-use features while driving: tap on the screen to overview the big area around you and tap back to normal, and put..." Read Full Review
"Pros: In my work I am often required to travel to places I’ve never so much as heard of on very short notice. I have owned my Tomtom One for several months now and it has yet to let me down. Both the visual and audio turn-by-turn directions are clear and easy to follow. If you make a wrong turn, within seconds the unit recalculates the route to get you to your destination. When it first arrived, as a test, I asked it to navigate me to several destinations I knew well. I was pleased to find that the vast majority of the time Tomtom took me along the same route I would have chosen as a “local” - maybe not the most obvious route but probably the smartest route. The price is low but there’s nothing cheap about it. Of course, it doesn’t play mp3s and videos or display my digital photos but I don’t want it to - I have separate devices that do those things better. Cons: Tomtom is a European product and it shows if you want to take advantage of the “Plus” features or additional downloads. Just a few examples: - Getting many of the live on-demand subscription services requires a GPRS (wireless data) enabled cell phone -- much more common in Europe than the US. (If you don’t know what that is, it is 99% likely you don’t have one.) ;- On their web site they have plenty of free suggested scenic driving routes and points-of-interest downloads for the UK and Europe but few if any for the US; and - Premium voices as well as add-on maps and map updates are priced in Euros or Pounds - not such a good thing, given the current exchange rates. (A note on premium “celebrity” voices: Many are impersonators who are just enough off of the original to be annoying, so think and try before you buy.)AgainIn short, in my experience Tomtom does what it says: Right out of the box it will get you where you are going quickly and accurately at a great price. You may want to look somewhere else if you want to take advantage of all the bells and whistles."

"I picked Tom Tom because it had the LEAST number of bad reviews, and I wanted to pay a little more to get above the cheapest models which gave users the poorest performance.
My standard had been Magellan, after first using it in a rental car back in the 1990s, but poor reviews have changed my mind about the Magellan models (at least for the lower end units).
I think you can't go wrong with this Tom Tom series. This model is well-made and easy to set up. I was using this literally right out of the box. I opened it in the parking lot and drove from Daytona Beach to Jacksonville (Florida) without any problems.
The maps are up-to-date and you get a year of free Tom Tom updates and probably forever use of the user-fixed maps, which you update by linking to your Internet-connected PC via the included USB cable.
You can customize voices, map colors, points-of-interest, etc.
I don't know how to tell where the battery indicator is, but I keep it plugged in to the cigarette lighter, so haven't had to worry about battery life yet.
I did notice a few communities where the map is missing entire streets, but the GPS was straight-on and accurate. I thought that was a strange disconnect, but that is probably the point of the useful user-input capability of the Tom Tom community: you can fix the maps and upload changes for others to benefit from. I imagine mapping is a tall order, considering the many changes (new streets, new neighborhoods, road renovations, etc.) that take place in the US daily. It also has a useful browse function to let you use the device the way you would use a paper map.
I recommend this unit. It doesn't do street-by-street announcements, but I decided I would find that pretty annoying after awhile, so didn't bother to look for that feature in my choices. The colors are bright (ans there's a great night-view feature, too), the sound is excellent (and you can set it to change volume with acceleration), and it reroutes you immediately if you take a wrong turn.
The screen is clear but smudges easily. I use the eraser end of a pencil tap the screen: that keeps it clean for me."

"it seems to be a good product and so fare it works great. it was a gift for my mom (65 yrs young), she's the not the most technologically savey comsumer. the on screen menu's take some practice to operate correctly and navigate. i have another unit from a different manufacturer and it's much simpler to operate on the fly. this product is not so easy to navigate through the meneu while underway."

"What a bargain! I usually have found refurbished items to be without any risk. Generally the company takes extra care and time to insure each unit is performing up to standards before releasing it for sale. This doesn't happen on assembly line manufacturing. I have had numerous GPS units (Call it a hobby) and I have found TomTom to be top rate. Some think the menus are complex but I do not find them to be overly so. One of the major things I like about the TomTom's is the ability to tailor-make most features: map colors, voices, routing, keyboard, direct entry lat/long co-ordinates (great for geo-caching), language, etc. Visually, the display is colorful and the lettering is large and easily readable. Usable information pops on the screen when navigating: name of the town, the next street, the street you're on, side streets, railroad tracks, arrival time, speed/speed limit, drive time, etc. All without accessing the menus and taking your eyes off the road for very long. The speaker is very loud and completely adjustable. No problems here!
The feature that is missing on this unit is text-to-speech. However, I find it to be of little value on most all brands of GPS units. Spoken street names are generally quieter than the other vocal instructions. Often robotic sounding, the street names are also mis-pronounced frequently leaving you in a major intersection with other traffic whizzing by at 75 mph thinking to yourself: "What did he say???"
Believe me, you can do a lot worse and spend two-three times more doing it, on many GPS units out there. I rate TomTom highest on the most useful features, Garmin on the most useless, Magellan on the most screwball routing, and Moov on the best voice. As the man said: "You pays your money and takes your chances".
They will all get you there, eventually, depending on the level on frustration you can tolerate. But I would go with TomTom, any unit, for overall satisfaction. Have fun...
Hope this review helps."

"This is the 4th TomTom that I've owned. I still own 3, but one of them was stolen. [$] is a fantastic deal for the TomTom One, especially since it comes with the "latest map guarantee". 3 of them have been refurbished with no porblems. I've been using this refurbished one from Radio Shack for a week now with no problems at all. The free map upgrade wouldn't work automatically when following the instructions that came with the unit [...]Hints: If you have other TomToms you can save the favorites to your PC and then load them onto the new TomToms rather than having to reenter them. That way your favorites are on all of your TomToms, which for me is important with 5 drivers depending on them all the time, with lots of destinations\favorites. Note that you will need to reload the favorites everytime you update the maps. Also, if you connect the GPS to your computer and log in to TomTom home every now and then the GPS will find the sattelites quicker becasue TomTom will "tell" the GPS where the sattelites are in the sky."

"the product is great in giving me demo before I start driving to my trip"
Pros:
"The maufaturer's package was hard to open; however once you open it, the GPS is charged and ready to go.[...] you can have the latest map by downloading, free of charge, map corrections VERIFIED by TomTom. the map corrections is a new map-share technology--allows users of tomtom to correct and share map routes as they go about their trips. The manufacturer also offers GPS-Fix updates to aquire satellites quickley; however if you don't update, or TomTom didn't provide the new update, @ the time of u'r trip, the Gps may aquire the satellite after a minute or so-depending on where you are. After that, the GPS will aquire the satellites very quickly.Map Graphics are good and colorful--with several options of night/day schemes.Lots of informatin in the status bar. Again, you have the ability to customize it to your preferance.Touch screen is bright and very sensitive. Voice commands are clear, loud and speed-2-volume controlled; however, sometimes confusing @ overlapping hwys if you're a 1st time user. Once you get used to it, becomes very easy. Many options to calculate accurate routes; however, it may not necessarily pick a route that you already know-and-find-easy to use.Once you plan/enter your route, there is a route demo @ your choice of speed-in-time to play, so you'll have a good idea about your route before you actually start your trip. Some people experienced problems @ start-up with "white screen", but so-far, I had absolutely no such problems. My brother has the OLDER VERSION, TomTom One-New Edition. Also works as great; however, after the latest update, sometime @ startup he needs to reset his TomTom. An Easier way to reset the old TomTom @ Start-up than the reset button (if you don't have a tiny pin to insert into the reset-hole), would be to pop-out the SD before starting your TomTom, Start the Tomtom, then insert the SD back in.As for TomTom 3rd Edition, there is no SD slot. Thus, it's limited on memory space. If you'd like to download extra's you may need to delete some of the things you don't need on your TomTom--voices etc. Also, I should mention that you're allowed to make a back-up of your TomTom before each update. it comes-in handy in case something goes wrong after the update.Tomtom 3rd would've even been greater if it offered something like reality-view which comes on Navigon--it shows you a virtual hwy with merging lanes/exits that pops-up near exits. However, Tomtom 3rd does have good graphics, and is still a great deal for the money.Conclusion...Other than the low battery life and no SD slot, it's a great product..I highly recommend it. Had it had a longer battery life and an SD slot, this product would easily earn Five-Star rating."

Two great and very easy to-use features while driving: tap on the screen to overview the big area around you and tap back to normal, and put your finger on the map to move it around. They are very helpful when the traffic slows down and you need to find an alternative route.Compare Mio C320 with C220:Mio C320: Wide screen, means more info on the screen and less chance to tap the wrong spot when you working on the touch screen.Mio C220: The speed of your car is displayed only when you drive freely without setting a route.Overall of Tomtom One 3rd Edition:Not recommended. Maps look awful after you are spoiled with Mio’s fine-arts maps. Difficult to use. You can’t tap on the screen to overview the map and you need to flip a few pages until you can move the map."

Cons:
"I used it to find about a dozen destinations. 3 or 4 it brougt me almost right to the door. 2 Were not on the map. 2 or 3 were within a block. 2 were on the wrong side of the street. 2 were more than a block but less than 1 mile off. And one brought me down a mud farm tractor road through a cow pasture when there was a perfectly good paved road one turn down.
Pros: I was impressed by the clarity of the screen.
Had no problems with screen lag.
Directions updated quickly.
Cons: Street addresses were way off.
Didn't always give the best rout. - Like haveing me drive all the way around a the back side of a huge shopping center and through the back truck entrance.
POI's are very incomplete. Sitting less than a block from McDonalds. Find the nearest McDonalds. It has us drive by the closest one a go 8 miles down the road.
Lots of U turns built into the rout."
