"I must admit that, [...] my expectations (based on reading and other research) had grown fairly tall. Still, when I initially unboxed the KitchenAid (Gaggia) machine, I found myself more impressed with the beauty of the machine than I'd expected. It is, simply, a work of art for your kitchen ... even if you never turn it on. It was the center of attention for guests at our New Year's party and has been an eye-pleasing addition to our home. With the exception of the noisy pump (not so unusual for home machines, but it'd be nice if it were not quite as loud) and small (2 liter) reservoir (they used the space to creat a gorgeous machine instead of a larger water tank; that's OK), this is a superior espresso machine that has exceeded my expectations in most ways. I will say that the addage that, "the better the machine, the more important the quality of your coffee, water and technique are ..." is proven out by this world-class device. It will show your shortcomings as a Barrista and is unforgiving if you choose to use stale or mal-flavored source water or old/cheap/poorly-ground coffee. I recommend the K/A ProLine Burr Grinder (which we also have) and only top-grade, extremely-fresh, medium roast (espresso roast) beans. Combine these, well-practiced Barrista technique, and this exceptional machine, and one can achieve perhaps the best cup of espresso ever made in a US home!"

"I use this espresso machine at least 3 times per day. The result is better than your local coffee house. I have owned a couple of machines before this one, but did not get a professional result until now. Don't hesitate. It is worth every penny and more!!!"

REAL Espresso Machine
"This machine pulls outstanding quality shots of espresso; easily comparable to any you'd get in even the most exclusive coffee house. The only downside to the fact that this is a home version of a professional quality machine is that you can't dummy it. It's not a "push the button and get consistent so-so product"; you have to LEARN how to pull a good shot. It does take practice, but once you master it you will consistently surpass the shots that are pulled by the untrained "baristas" that work in coffee shops and espresso stands with the fully automatic systems. Also, this machine DEMANDS that you use a proper grind to pull a proper shot, so choose your coffee grinder carefully. They are not all up to producing a fine enough grind regardless of the cost. My previous machine was a Breville, which had a smaller brew head and was easier to pull good shots, but made MUCH less steam than the KitchenAid which is why when the KitchenAid came on Overstock at such a great price I snatched it up immediately because of the separate steam boiler."

"This is my fifth espresso machine and it appears to be the best of the group. I expect this machine to be durable. Once one masters the learning curve, it makes great espresso drinks. My only negative comment is that it's slow to warm up."
