"I bought a Kenmore machine that just would not work right and I had to return it to the store. This was 3 months ago. It did not get my dishes clean and it did not hold a full load. I thought I had lost faith in dishwashers. Until I got my new Kitchenaid Superba. I have run it three times so far, just got it last week. Well my dishes are extra clean and all the stains that the Kenmore left are gone. You c..."  Read Full Review

I bought a Kenmore ...

You can jam it as full as you can get it and my dishes sparkle like diamonds. I am impressed. I should have bought a Kitchenaid Superba in the first place, but I bought a Kenmore relying on their (formerly) good name. My brother has a Superba. My mother had a Kitchenaid Superba that lasted 24 years.

I realize now that Kitchenaid machines are probably made by the same parent company as Sears Kenmore. I think they are made by Whirlpool. But in any case, this new Superba is a superior machine. It's so quiet you can barely hear the motors - you can hear the water sloshing around and that's all. It does take a long time because it has so many cycles. They say expect 2-3 hours based on average dirty dishes. I never pre-rinse. The Kitchenaid has a grinder and a filter so it can handle chunks of food. I almost always use the ProScrub and the Heavy Duty cycle, and the Sani-Rinse. I need to have my dishes sparkling clean.

They had the Superba in the store right next to the Bosch dishwasher. I compared both machines' top racks and the Kitchenaid has a longer top rack, significantly longer. Maybe 5 inches longer.

I feel that I have bought the best dishwasher possible for the money. If you are considering buying a new dishwasher I can whole-heartedly recommend the Kitchenaid Superba. Try to get it on sale - Sears frequently has sales on major appliances.

I bought the 3 year home service warranty - just in case I get a lemon. I hope never to have to use it. I will update this review if anything negative happens."

"My 37 year old Kitchenaid Superba finally gave up the ghost. I am hoping to get one that will work as well as this one has. Hopefully they make them as well as they did back 37 years ago!"

"A great buy for the money but I should say a HOT buy for the money because this machine lives up to it's name-KitchenAid! This dishwasher has the most important options including the "toy" options. Quite, powerful, adjustable and of course nicley finished quality USA built dishwasher. Purchased from Kmart #4136 in ABQ, NM with also great customer service!"

KitchenAid Dishwasher

★★★★☆
4.0

"I've had this unit for a few weeks but have run quite a few loads in it. It's the most quiet dishwasher I've had. The adjustable top shelf and tines make it easy to use. I was not able to load wine glasses, my fine dishes in the old one. You must use Jet Dri to get dishes dry. Too soon to talk about reliability but I like it so far."

We purchased this ...

★★★★☆
4.0

"We purchased this dishwasher about 2 weeks ago and so far, so good. The capacity of the machine is excellent. There is flexibility in how you set up the racks - the top rack can move higher or lower and the prongs that hold the dishes can also be moved a bit. There is only 1 wide space on the bottom for lasagne type pans, which presents a little problem for me because I tend to have some larger items that I like to put in. However, I'm sure I only need to keep trying various loading arrangements to get me where I'd like to be. The utensil basket is ample and has held everything I've thrown at it so far. The interior just looks massive and there's plenty of space for tall items. It runs quietly, but there's still noise (it is a dishwasher after all). The most noise comes from the water entering the machine. After that, it's pretty quiet. I would HIGHLY recommend having this installed by the professionals. My husband took this project on since he'd previously installed our other dishwasher - however, it took him and entire day to do this. There were some plumbing adjustments that he had to make to accommodate this machine, so he couldn't just pop it into what was previously there. He said he'd spend the money for someone else to do it next time. As for cleaning, it's doing the job. I've had one bowl come out that was not clean, but I think that was a loading issue, not necessarily a machine issue. Overall, I'd recommend this machine."

Great Dishwasher

★★★★★
5.0

"I read a lot of reviews before making my decision to buy this dishwasher. I agree with the other reviewers, I don't think you can buy a better dishwasher for the money. I have only had it for a few weeks, but I run it daily. My dishes come out clean, which is still a big deal to me, as my old machine wasn't doing the job! It's very quiet. If I'm not in the kitchen, I cannot hear it at all. All in all, I am very happy with my decision to buy this dishwasher."

I've had this dishwasher ...

★★★★★
5.0

"I've had this dishwasher now for a few months, and it is absolutely fantastic. No complaints here. If you can go without the bells and whistles that other d/w's have, then this is the one for you. It's quieter than I had anticipated. So quiet in fact, that I forget that it's on sometimes. It has a gentle and pleasant humming noise while in operation. My wine glasses come out spotless every single time (with a rinse aid of course), and the heat dry option leaves your dishes nice and hot (so exercise a little caution). Otherwise, I'm very very happy and excited about my new KitchenAid d/w. I would definitely recommend this product."

When I was younger I ...

★★★★★
5.0

"When I was younger I wanted everything I bought, especially appliances, to have all of the bells & whistles. Facing retirement age, I've learned that in some instances it's OK to scale-down a bit.

After doing my homework, I narrowed the dishwasher selection down by choosing the features that meant most to me-a few, but frequently used cycles, the ability to allow dishes to air-dry, a stainless-steel tub, and an adjustable upper rack. Another feature this model has that the other K.A.'s do not is a flat front panel; one that doesn't have a protruding towel-bar-like handle. My dishwasher is in a corner where a flatware drawer sits just to the side. I didn't want to have to open the dishwasher door and let it down just to be able to access the drawer.

I was able to get this dishwasher at a fantastic price and am very pleased with it thus far. It was delivered and installed sooner than the original anticipated availability date."

We checked out quite a ...

★★★★☆
4.0

"We checked out quite a few dishwashers before settling on this one. It had all the features we were looking for. It has a stainless tub rather than a plastic one and was in our price range. It has a good amount of space inside, and the top rack is adjustable, which helps.

Installation took me about two hours, and I'm no plumber. The connections are in the same place on probably most dishwashers, so replacing an old one is fairly straight forward. The only difference is that newer dishwashers have a garden hose type water connection rather than the older style with pipe fittings. That's what took the longest, since I couldn't just reconnect the water line I chose to replace the whole feed line with a new metal braided line. An adapter from the old style water connection to the garden hose type is NOT included, so you'll need one of those if you are replacing an older model.

The unit operates VERY quietly, you hardly notice it even if you are standing right next to it. The cycle is longer than our older dishwasher (just over 2 hours). The instructions say this is normal in order to achieve the efficiency, OK whatever. It cleans very well, the turbo function does the job on tough jobs in the back of the bottom rack. My only complaint is that the silverware and some dishes come out with a white powder coating. Maybe it's our powder detergent, we'll switch types and see what happens. The instructions don't say anything about this.

We don't use the heat dry function, you have to turn it off each time you run a cycle, it doesn't remember your setting (our older Maytag did remember). With just an air dry, dishes come out wet, but nothing that letting them sit for an hour or two won't cure.

Overall, this is a very good unit. It's quite, spacious, and cleans well (except for that powder coating). I think we made a good choice with this unit."
